  • No, we’re seeing the same thing on the inside too. The fact that Trump actually has another chance in hell, or that he likely would’ve beat Biden, is a sign of how far gone this country already is. Do people not remember the absolute shitshow that was Trump’s 1st term?

Weekly, sometimes daily, WTF moments where I was just wondering where any of the adults were. Constant, blatant corruption and incompetence on full display. And we had to hear everything he fucking said over and over because everybody had to repeat the same news over and over again.

It’s been relatively good during Biden’s tenure, I would hear/read about him about as much as a normal president. Like, the president is the president, but I don’t want to hear everything going on with the president unless it’s important. So for us to go from that absolute shit show to relative peace (as peaceful as all this can be considered), I don’t understand how anybody would want to go back.

  • I think that third one down is actually how they’re teaching it at my kids’ schools now. It’s called “making a 10” I think, basically that same idea, add up to 10 first, then do the rest.

  • I just don’t dream… anything. I remember having dreams as a kid, and I remember what it felt like waking up, knowing I’d had a dream, but forgetting it. But anymore, I just don’t have any dreams anymore.

  • IANAL. Not unless they’re in the public domain. It can depend on how litigious the company happens to be and/or how much attention you get, but eventually they’ll come around and the more successful you get, the more likely they are to come after you. Any company that has intellectual property has a sort of responsibility to protect it, else they run the risk of losing that protection when they may really need it. That’s why I think Nintendo especially is so protective of their IP, they DGAF and will go after anybody, whether it’s for a fan project made out of love or whatever, doesn’t matter, Cease & Desist.

A song title or work of art is probably ok, maybe even a band name (?), but a business name might be stretching it, it just depends on how much you’re leaning into the original work. If you make up a business called ‘Super Mario’s Pipe Cleaners’ and you basically rip off all the imagery from Super Mario games to establish your business, that’s probably not going to go well.

Using it in your own games? Maybe it’d depend on how it’s worked in. If it’s a cookiecutter copy of Princess Peach, then probably copyright infringement, but if it’s a parody or a loose homage to a character, that might stand a better chance. It really just depends on the context.

  • Murder ballads. I don’t know that it’s a genre of music per se, so much that it’s a subject that people have sung about across different genres. It’s just so antithetical to what we normally consider music, normally it’s love songs and such. Epic examples include:

    • In the Pines (famously covered by Nirvana)
    • Violent Femmes - Country Death Song
    • Mack the Knife (Louis Armstrong version is the best)
