  • We’re probably more likely to see a return to feudalism, with the wealthy getting worshipped as god-kings and regular folks going back to being illiterate peasants working the land for their overlords.

  • That’s what 2A supporters will tell you it’s there for, but I don’t believe that was ever the original intent of it. Imagine the government slipping in an amendment that could potentially lead to their own overthrow, that just sounds suicidal, especially since that could be abused by people who don’t even have legitimate grievances and just want to overthrow the government to take power for themselves.

Rather, the Second Amendment has its roots in a series of popular uprisings, the Regulator movement (1766–1771), which was opposed to corruption in government. When the government went to put down these uprisings however, they had trouble raising the necessary forces for their militias, militias which were intended to put down popular uprisings. So the Founding Fathers were very conscious of this at the time the Constitution was written, it was expected citizens would have their own weapons so that they could be called upon for these state militias.

Tl;dr the purpose of the “well-regulated militia” in the 2nd Amendment was to put down rebellions, not enable them.

  • SSN’s are also given out to immigrants as well though, so that’s a whole other population of people outside of just natural born citizens to account for. The US awards around one million green cards annually, though I don’t know what the historical numbers are.

  • I’ve actually been “maintaining” my Dad’s GOG account since he died some years ago. Anytime there’s a giveaway I log into both our accounts and download, one for me, one for him. No point to it really, just out of remembrance, though I’ll probably hand it off to one of my kids at some point.

  • If people are "upset" about the MCU, it's because of how much they like it and how they want it to be better than it's become. And the idea that fans could "offer something better", given Disney's team of lawyers and copyright protections, is laughable. Like what, are fans going to film their own MCU movies & shows? The only thing we can offer is snarky comments on the internet, that's all we're allowed to do without getting sued, and I'm sure even that will be taken away from us within the next 10 years.

  • Why is this even in the news? This is the same kind of dumb shit that would get talked about on AM radio stations and other conspiracy theory circles that nobody paid any attention to because of how completely stupid it sounded to a rational person. Can we stop giving these people any attention?

  • I'm not understanding the question, what is this "breaking the cycle" thing? Does one "break the cycle" of having to eat or drink? If it's done to a harmful degree, then yeah, get help and stop rubbing yourself so much, but most masturbation is healthy and fine. I'm assuming people stop masturbating if they a) find a sex partner (even then it's not a guarantee someone would stop), b) find something else to do, or c) die. Otherwise, you need to either find a way to stop or find a way to stop feeling bad about it. It's not something anybody should feel bad about.

Like all these people on the bus staring at me right now, they're all a bunch of creeps, just let me jerk off in peace, weirdos.

  • It’s apparently the strategy of both the West and China to wear Russia down and the Russians are either too stupid to realize it, or Putin feels he just doesn’t have a choice at this point. After this war, Russia is very likely to be a Chinese vassal state, which China will use to extract cheap resources (which they’re pretty much already doing now). Russia is throwing their future away on the fields of Ukraine over a strip of land, it’s so mind-numbingly stupid.

  • I’m 43 and with my lower back pain I can’t imagine going off to fight in a war like that. I’m exercising more now than I ever did, but I’m well past my prime and probably couldn’t do alot of the things that war would demand. I’d surrender at the first opportunity I could get to not get shot in the back.

  • Break up these “investment firms” whose only purpose seems to be to suck all the productivity for themselves, destroy the company, then move on to something else. They’re like the aliens from Independence Day, locusts.
