[KDE Plasma] Customized my system to my liking

  • How much time did it take? My experience with theming KDE Plasma was that it requires lots and lots of time and patience to achieve something good. At least for a newbie.

  • A lot of laptops have proprietary drivers that are Windows only. Wi-fi/touchpads not working is a common issue

  • It's pretty much the only way they enforce stuff here in Ukraine. Back in 2015 when the government blocked social media websites tied to Russian companies and in 2022 when .ru domains were blocked, changing your DNS provider didn't help. I'm not sure about piracy sites, though, because everyone kinda doesn't care about this stuff here, but I don't think they would invent other mechanisms when they have a working one that doesn't rely on DNS.

  • The biggest tip I can give to you is to stop considering all kinds of things when you have no actual experience using Linux and don't really know what do you want. Just try it. Go ahead and launch Zorin OS from a Live USB and see for yourself if it is any good, doing this as soon as possible will save you a lot of time askin questions on forums, watching videos and reading articles

  • A user.js file should do the thing. It doesn't exactly lock the variable but rather the browser sets it on each launch, so even if it was overridden by an update, it would be overridden by the file again afterwards.

  • I personally use Brave for most of my search aueries and don't see anything wrong with it. If I can't find something with it (which is rare these days), then I use SearXNG to get Google results proxied.
