  • I would interpret them as additional languages. First and foremost, thieves' cant isn't a language per se. It's more of a series of code words and phrases to access shady parts of society. There may be local flavors, but it's all generally similar regardless of the language you speak. Gaining one additional rare language is barely even a boon. Comprehend Languages is a 1st level spell. Unless language barriers are a significant part of your campaign, everyone is just going to be speaking common and frankly most players forget that they have other languages on their sheet anyway

  • I know there's no internal logic here but why are they doing this?

I have the freedom to take Ivermectin to cure any disease or the government dictates my medical choices. The vaccine is evil and will make your heart explode but we won't let liberals take it by choice, even when we cheer for their death. Government shouldn't tell me how to live except "don't take this ultra dangerous drug that you've had 5 times before with no negative impacts"

Just let liberals be dumbass sheep taking their poison. Why are you stopping them from "killing themselves"?

Is it because the party of "small government" is actually more concerned with what adults do to their bodies?

If it wasn't for double standards they wouldn't have any standards at all

  • Real answer: podcasts. Doughboys, Doughboys Double, Get Played, Get Played Season Pass (can you tell I like Nick Weiger?), Film Reroll, and Wait, Wait, Don't Tell me

Helpful answer: I like singing along to stuff so that ends up being a lot of 80s/90s pop and alt-rock stuff. CAKE, They Might be Giants, Garbage, Jamiroquai, Vengaboys, a bunch of one-hit wonders. Lately I've been on a bit of a trance kick so The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers, and Daft Punk are in there too

  • India/Pakistan seem to be on the brink of war, multiple European countries have elected self described fascists into power, China continues power grabbing the South China Sea, the Russia/Ukraine war, expanding climate disasters (everywhere) but largely in Africa and South America, and as mentioned the US craziness which drags everyone else into it. I think there's a pretty good argument that things are falling apart globally, it's just worse in some places than others

  • So presumably Yoshi is going to be a big part of this one then? Considering that Super Mario World is his first appearance in the series. I wonder if it'll be a speaking role or if he's just going to say his name and make noises

  • It's entirely possible there's an issue with lemmynsfw.com that either has screwed up federation, or the majority of their content. I'm at work so I can't investigate right now but I'd bet it'll be fixed by the end of the day

  • Depending on when you were in high school Magic may have been a gambling game. In the first few editions of the game you "ante'd" the top card of your library before you played and some cards could cause you to ante others. Plus kids bringing things with monetary value that is flexible and hard to track is definitely a recipe for fights

  • I made a lemmy post about it but I theorize they're crowdsourced AI training. Post something, post a couple of separate AI interpretations of it, then analyze the highest up voted AI and "organic" responses, and feed that back into the model. Rinse/repeat

  • I mean the bots don't help. The sheer number of obviously AI subreddits and response farms is crazy. There's like 6 prominent "Am I the Assholes", a bunch of text message "screenshot" subreddits which have always been easy to fake, and a bunch of "explain the joke" ones too. I stop reading halfway through most text posts and comments because it's obviously AI

  • Americans have a weird quirk with preferring "local" grocery stores but not bothering to look up who actually owns their grocery store. So the majority of "local" chains are just regional Kroger brands or in this case Food Lion is the southern equivalent of Dutch Delhaize

  • Unironically, yes. If the "internet" were to disappear tomorrow civilized society would no longer exist. Too much had been built on an unstable jenga tower of technology. We put a lot of faith in the status quo existing despite the fact that little evidence suggests it will
