  • Honestly, i dislike his age, his stance on Israel and some other general things but overall I think Biden has accomplished a lot of good things as president.

    Some examples:

    • rejoined Paris Agreement
    • rejoined WHO
    • ends federal private prison contracts
    • 130+ billion in student loan forgiveness
    • Russia sanctions
    • national registry for police fired for misconduct
    • executive order protecting travel for abortion
    • gas prices down (not all in his control but still)
    • inflation reduction act
    • Arguably the best post-pandemic economy in the world
  • My worst imagination is a nefarious entity using our data to determine if we are a threat or try and categorize people for some kind of psyop manipulation.

Something like Captain America Winter Soldier but more realistic. Even things like Cambridge Analytica show it is not that far fetched.

While social media companies and amazon may not have the desire to do those things, they sure make it easier for others by greedily collecting the data.

  • Nice info. I couldn't remember the details about the connection with money lending and banking, but I was trying to refer to it with the stereotypes and standing out.

Also, you are right and i edited my comment about Jews being responsible for crucifying Jesus because it is something i was taught and i know people believe it, but I am not trying to spread that information as fact.

  • It is varied and complicated throughout history-

    1. Pre-Christian anti-Judaism in Ancient Greece and Rome which was primarily ethnic in nature
    2. Christian antisemitism in antiquity and the Middle Ages which was religious in nature and has extended into modern times
    3. Muslim antisemitism which was—at least in its classical form—nuanced, in that Jews were a protected class
    4. Political, social and economic antisemitism during the Enlightenment and post-Enlightenment Europe which laid the groundwork for racial antisemitism
    5. Racial antisemitism that arose in the 19th century and culminated in Nazism
    6. Contemporary antisemitism which has been labeled by some as the new antisemitism

Christians have some historical antisemitism because the Jews are blamed for crucifying Jesus.

Muslims i have less knowledge, but i know in modern times they hate the founding of Israel among other reasons pertaining to “conflicting sky daddy”

Also for some other context, many practicing Jews kept traditions that made them stand out in the past. Leading to negative (and often false) stereotypes.

Lastly, it doesn't help that they proclaim themselves God’s chosen people in the eyes of outsiders.

    Edit: corrected mistake

  • Yeah, i mean that sounds great until 40% of the country gets so fanatical and dehumanizing that they decide the only choice is to fight a war.

I prefer finding common ground, deprograming, and forgiveness over violence unless that is the only path that remains.

  • Right? Like great, vote for the GOP, they will definitely care about Arab policies. /s

Foolish and short sighted. Sorry but 2/3 of the US population supports Israel in this conflict, and likely all of the remaining 1/3 is from the young liberal left. Biden is an old democrat, expecting any other result was naive.

But sure, elect an authoritarian Trump. Then instead of protesting, just get thrown in a camp for not being white and christian.

  • 2 quotes come to mind

    The problem:

“you cant reason someone out of something they were not reasoned into.”

    • Jonathan Swift

    And the solution:

”He drew a circle that shut me out- Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout. But love and I had the wit to win: We drew a circle and took him In!”

    • Edwin Markham

You have to draw a bigger circle. It is the way to deprogram people from that tribalistic mentality. Teaching them and “winning” debates will not work.

  • Good thing he isn't currently a diplomat.

Also good thing Hamas founding principles don’t say anything about destroying Israel…

“The Day of Judgement will not come about, until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.” -Hamas Covenant

    …oh.

  • While i do not wholly agree with your last sentence, i do respect your balanced view. Making any war one of “good vs. evil” is dangerous a step toward dehumanizing the enemy and it only gets worse from there.

Also i agree Israel’s response has been very strong and cold, but i believe they were not left with many choices.

Things could not return to status quo with Gaza after the attack on the 7th and there was no clean option left for them. Diplomacy failed over and over for decades. Both sides share blame for the diplomatic breakdown, but Israel has no allies and many enemies in the region and must project strength to keep opportunists away.

  • Even if it was an iron dome rocket, which is not impossible; it was not targeting the hospital. It was targeting a hostile missile launch.

I also trust international orgs fatality reports more than local sources on this one.

Y’all keep talking about war crimes, but Hamas is not even distinguishing themselves from civilians which is the basis from where almost every other IHL rule stems.

  • Well more than 1… but also form and motive are important here.

The “1” was an innocent woman who was raped, tortured, and murdered slowly and publicly to spread terror because she was at a music festival.

The “3000” are civilian casualties of war because said terrorists are hiding behind them as a combat strategy.

Both are horrible, but you are making a false equivalency.

  • I came from reddit like many of the others. So far i went to gaming and world news mostly. I peeked around the meme and shitpost ones too.

Im also looking for new communities. They seem smaller but more interactive.

  • Hamas is also committing countless warcrimes.

“1. In order to ensure respect for and protection of the civilian population and civilian objects, the Parties to the conflict shall at all times distinguish between the civilian population and combatants and between civilian objects and military objectives and accordingly shall direct their operations only against military objectives…

    1. The taking of hostages is prohibited. Common Article 3; GC IV, Article 34.
    2. The prohibition against taking hostages in armed conflict is a fundamental guarantee whose breach is a war crime.”

Meanwhile the International Humanitarian Law clearly states:

“ 1. The presence or movements of the civilian population or individual civilians shall not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations, in particular in attempts to shield military objectives from attacks or to shield, favour or impede military operations. The Parties to the conflict shall not direct the movement of the civilian population or individual civilians in order to attempt to shield military objectives from attacks or to shield military operations.

    1. Under no circumstances shall medical units be used in an attempt to shield military objectives from attack. Whenever possible, the Parties to the conflict shall ensure that medical units are so sited that attacks against military objectives do not imperil their safety.
