  • Yeah the maths starts to add up. (There are some assumptions below, but you get the jist).

    • The Xbox One had a software attach rate of 7 gamers per console^1 sold or on average that's 1 game per year per user for the life of the console.
    • In the Xbox One generation over 8 years they sold 0.875 games per user per year. Assume £50 a game. That's £43 per xbox console owner per year.
    • Per gamepass subscriber they're currently recieving £90+ in subscriptions per year.
  • Can modern ipads be mounted as a file system. It's kinda annoying, going to try @plutolink suggestion.

I even tried just downloading them from a local webserver but safari on an older ipad can't download, only stream the MP4.

  • It can. USB C can support DP ALT mode where the pins effectively become DP pins in a USB C connector. I'm guessing data transfer is done via USB2 this and display is in DP ALT. Typically we've not seen this as anyone willing to put in ALT modes would want a fast interface too for data transfer, also knowing apple there is something proprietary going on.

The main point is it's not limited to USB Speeds. The pins can take on other functions. Even the pro does 10gbps USB where as 4k60 HDR in DP would be 14-20gbps far in excess of it's USB bandwidth.

  • Contrary to the top comment.

I got FF Beta>Fennec>Mull for my uses.

    • Mull is stuck at 60hz.
    • Fennec doesn't support hardware tokens to login to websites (Yubikey).

I know under the hood some privacy stuff is likely better but from a usability point of view, they're 2 big deal breakers for me.

  • Also sometimes companies forget the package as a whole.

Yes you pay me £5k extra salary but I get worse sick pay, less holiday pay, reduced pension contributions, no paid medical, reduced flexibility and 40hours vs 37hours a week.

If you add financial values to lots of these benefits they can really add up.
