  • Not sure. The EU legal systems are different to the US. You can't just sue for millions of damges willy nilly you'd need to display how you've been out of pocket by some value and then sue for that. This kind of thing is very hard to put a finger on, also if apple update and/or recall the devices there is nothing to be wronged for (assuming they give refunds, updates, replacements).

I'm assuming in the US you can just sue apple for the fact it was above the limit and gain damages even when it's had no measurable impact on you?

  • Sorry I missed the "non" part. In that case either they're using a different die which is definitely possible seeing as they're clocked lower than the iphone counterparts or they're utilising an external USB controller.

  • Theyre not stupid if you read it before writing about it on Lemmy you'd see they're required to review regularly with stakeholders to agree and amend requirements 'in line with scientific and technological progress, consumer convenience and environmental developments'

  • Try get involved in some teams chats, hell even call some people for a chat about work.

Maybe arrange a 3 monthly pub quiz or meal out with the team. People are receptive to that kind of thing and can really bond the team.

  • Agreed, however with a phone I think leather cases are a waste. You're not getting the longevity benefits so are contributing to less ethical environmental practises.

Boots/wallets/belts which you'll keep for a lifetime are surely better in the long term than man made alternatives which last a year and need replacements.

  • Yeah I get that there are some teething issues but for an iphone geezer now it should be pretty ubiquitous. USB C to USB C cables will do 60w. Then if they have the special chip they can do 100W + (5A).

It's even less of an issue for an iphone 15 that will likely top out at 25w.

  • When you get WFH or hybrid working you become more aware of the time wasted at the office because you know it could have been spent doing chores, gaming or doing something actually useful to your life rather than just tossing it off in a random office with people you don't care about.

  • Most common lies I tell are usually just to stop people focussing on a certain part of a story or anecdote. They're technically lies but aren't relevant.

Lets say i'm talking about my weekend to a friend or colleauge. I mention that on friday night in a certain bar or location something happened. Well if I know that person is going to pick up on the location eg: "Why were you there".

I don't really care they know I just cba with my story being picked apart for something that's not really that relevant, I was just setting the scene.

  • Yeah I can see the double edged sword. I guess "WFH if you want" is doing some heavy lifting in my reply. My best friend is permanant remote with no office and lives alone and I bet it's isolating. Where as I have kids, wife and a shit tonne of chores so I don't get the same isolation issues but I could definitely see some instances where it could be an issue.

I think the hybrid model is perfect. I'll go to the office for important meetings, so I don't have distractions and can truly get in the zone.

  • Based on the presentation it seems like the USB3 controller is on-die for the A17 pro bionic chip. So rather than re-engineer the chip for the A16 they've shipped it on the cheap, they could add an external controller or re-engineer the die.

I'd bet next year all iphone models are USB3.

  • Just curious why you think USB C sucks? I think it's gotten to a mature point now with PD 3.0 or 3.1. I have 1 cable next to my bed that will charge my phone, headphones, laptop, tablet etc. No worrying at all.
