  • The cryptic part being this is not talked about much. Or manufacturers choose to skirt this issue. If you read online this issue can randomly happen to any device after a software update without physical damage. With phones getting 4-7 years of software updates this becomes a serious issue when updating especially when you are out of warranty.

  • Oneplus offers lifetime free display replacements, but only in India. Samsung was also offering selective display replacements for select S series device for a limited time time again only in India..

Personally, all companies should provide display replacements for hardware defects at least upto 5 if not 6 years. If I get a greenline on my smartphone I won't be buying from them again.

You already need to be mindful of displaying static elements on OLED displays. Greenline is another problem.

  • Yeah, I have that as a backup option as it's super smooth and supports multiple windows.

  • Does anyone use Google files in this community? I use solid file explorer due to its dynamic search function, dual pane layout, and smooth colorful interface.

  • Apps may feature code that dynamically changes on your device and not show that behaviour until a while. That's why play protect scans for malicious apps and may further block an app from functioning if it detects suspicious activity.

  • I would rather they give an sdcard. Because, at least for 3.5mm jack you have wireless earbuds/headphones. You don't have wireless sdcard for more storage.

  • Maybe, these are hints to skip the 9 and get the 10 or 8 series

  • You are getting a Dimensity 7350 which is 10% faster in CPU and 30% faster in GPU compared to 7200 pro. The front camera was upgraded from 32MP Sony IMX615 to 50MP samsung JN1 sensor.

So, not much improvement for $50.

  • While, you cannot catchup to someone who started 10mins before. This is intentionally being behind. The exynos only slightl exceeds the performance of Snapdragon 778G from A52s two generations before.

If samsung can make powerful flagship chips they can also make powerful midrange chips. They choose not to, to save costs.

  • Maybe because the competition is that much ahead. See, mediatek dimensity 8300 ultra, Snapdragon 7+gen 2, or Snapdragon 7+ gen 3 and also the Snapdragon 8s gen 3. They are also midrange and upper midrange chips. For the same price of the A55 you get much better hardware on competing devices.

  • But, the precedent is there. Samsung is not pro sideloading or custom ROMs. In fact tizenOS was more locked down than android.

  • Techno makes smartphones which have good hardware specs, marred by bad software support. For the equivalent Samsung or Nothing phone you would be paying a higher price.

I won't be surprised though if even they received Aryabhatta's number of upgrades.

Lol, I had to google just to make sure it meant zero.

  • Did you not see the news about Autoblocker being enabled by default on Oneui 6.1.1 blocking sideloading of apk files by default.

  • It's already a feature since android 12 like the other user said. Try droidify if fdroid doesn't do background updates for you.

  • Samsung is also good at updating most of their smartphones to the latest version of android.

  • Authy is the last thing a security minded person should ever have been using. Counting the not so recent security breach and all.

  • We are currently reaching the 4th generation of Qualcomm 8 gen series chipset, (5 if we include snapdragon 888) and this is the best Samsung's midrange Exynos can do, pathetic.

  • People do not like google play related stuff. It's understandable.

  • Pros

    • Class-leading, bright 120Hz LTPO OLED panel.
    • Excellent battery life.
    • Very fast charging speed.
    • Snappy and modern chipset, good sustained performance.
    • Solid main camera performance both in good and low light.

    Cons

    • Unimpressive ultrawide camera.
    • No eSIM support.
    • IP65 rating is official only on few markets.<>
