  • This is a very Western oriented perspective. The West is in decline, yes, and currently other options aren't great, but areas like South America might flourish as Western imperialist reach withers.

We're in for hard times either way, but if you're going to use a word like "global" at least think globally.

  • Not universally, and not always. Even in the Western tradition there were free self governing cities.

I don't have the time and energy to elaborate and have the inevitable subsequent debate, but it's defeatist and unhelpful to say that hierarchy and oppression have always defined human existence. We need to demand more.

  • Since you're thinking about these things, you might also want to think about why individuals should be able to dictate what happens in the economy at all? Billionaires can't exist without owning large swaths of the economy, and by owning large swaths of the economy they directly and dictatorially control a major part of the lives of thousands of people. More than Lords of old.

Why shouldn't the economy be democratized? Why shouldn't workers decide what to work on, and how to organize their work? Why shouldn't the economy be cooperative instead of competitive, do we need winners and losers? Why can't we just share our techniques and resources? Wouldn't we all be better off?

  • It's not a compelling argument but there's an argument to be made that even just having more propaganda sources in the mix (as opposed to only American propaganda) is healthier than not.

Homogenizing and normalizing only American propaganda globally is kinda the status quo

  • The point is that LLMs are naturally biased but they're also explicitly biased by the people training them. Knowing what biases are being programmed into these LLMs by their owners is a glimpse into their agenda.

If you want to read more on the subject these are referred to as "system prompts" and you can read about various "system prompt leaks" that can include such things as explicitly right wing walking points.

Grok may very well have such nuggets in its system prompt.

  • Even if you don't care about animal welfare this is like making a community for private jets, coal power, or other destructive things.

On top of that it comes across as (or straight up is) a reactionary response to everyone saying meat is unsustainable. Nobody would be talking about carnivore diets if vegans didn't exist.

I personally have had enough of reactionary bullshit and it's a big reason I left Reddit, not gonna buy into the same shit coming here

  • It seems like a symbolic (but obviously still immoral) move, Orthodox Christmas is usually celebrated later (January) but it seems like Ukraine aligned with the December 25 date in 2023. Russians still celebrate on the traditional Orthodox day.

  • every large organization is inefficient, anyone who has worked at a huge company knows this. This is just another capitalist myth that happens to keep economic control in private hands where the wealthy get more votes than the poor, as opposed to public hands where (in theory) votes are equal.

  • Hey if enough Americans are motivated he may not have to serve the full sentence. If this were the start of something bigger he could easily get out sooner.

If everyone goes back to complacency though you're definitely right.

Trigger happy mods should know that I'm advocating for political and cultural change but not specifying that it must be through violence.
