  • I'm with you that the economic system is the root cause of the problem and I'm fighting that battle too in my own way. I have too much to lose to really fight it, but there's a lot more direct action and community involvement I could be doing. Ideologically, though, I'm anti-capitalist and believe that the way forward is collectivism in the form of anarcho-communism.

That's a lot harder to achieve than going vegan, though.

  • I am not the one making excuses about individual climate action. I take individual climate action. I'm vegan, I am electrifying my house, I have consistently reduced my consumption. I aim for a lifestyle that would scale up to the whole world.

If you think we need to eliminate the wealthy or nothing is worth doing, then do the thing you think is worth doing. I'm doing plenty, I'm not the one making excuses.

  • The question isn't whether others are doing more harm than you, the question is whether your lifestyle would scale up such that if everyone lived like you, would we be sustainable?

Yours is the small scale version of the Canadian and American excuse that China emits more in absolute numbers despite being much better than us per capita.

Stop making excuses, take personal action.
