  • This has to re-balance at some point. The only way to buy a house seems to be to have an existing house to upgrade, or have someone die and get enough inheritance to make the remainder of a mortgage affordable. We went to refinance a month or so ago and an income of $250k was needed for about $1.3m mortgage (without lying about expenses)

  • Cheap second NAS that I power up every now and again, then I run a dsynchronize profile which replicates the important stuff (video), and all the stuff I could never replace I put on a usb and keep it elsewhere

  • Quite a few years ago I used eBay to find some of the toys I had as a kid.. a unique Matchbox car, some original trilogy Star Wars figures, some collector cards. I associate them with my childhood so when I look at them of touch them it takes me back to that simpler time and makes me happy

  • I don’t feel trapped into Google for search.. the fact is their search engine gives me better results than everyone else’s. It is not like they are restricting my access to others.

A few years ago my work had Microsoft staff in doing an SQL assessment and the guy doing the works spent a good 5 mins trying to find a Microsoft article in Bing. Eventually he asked me to look away, switched to Google and found it as the top result. I asked why he requested I look away and he said it was against their rules to use Google lol

  • Crystal Skull for me.. the first 3 Indiana Jones movies are near perfect, but all in different ways.. but the thing that ties them together is action, adventure, a simpl-ish story, some treasure, and they are beautiful. I was so pumped for Crystal Skull.

I was away for work, had a free night and there was a cinema a stroll away. I got a 6 pack of wild turkey and coke and started walking only to find it was about a 90min walk.. I was 6 turkeys deep but this was going to be magical, right? Nope, it was the biggest disappointment of a movie I have ever seen, then I had to walk 90mins back to my hotel reliving it.

  • Before Covid I was wearing redwings as my daily and they were so comfortable, bought a second pair in a different style (which is a big investment for me) and then Covid hit and now I spend 90% of my day in Ugg boots, socks or no shoes.. oh well, I think I have a lifetime worth of boots there

  • If I look at what Windows 11 is, its features and the new features, I honestly can’t work out who Microsoft’s target market is anymore.

With the pricing for AI, I can’t even work out which enterprises would consume it.

  • over the last 15 years or so I would have spent $10k on mattresses of all types.. inner spring, micro spring, full latex, a mix of above.. all end up with body indentations that cause back pain. In the end I bought a cheap mattress in a box (Koala Brand) that is hard as a brick and a latex topper, it has been wonderful

  • Calm down buddy, a no vote isn't always going to be a vote for racism and this is shown by the fact that many of the indigenous people can't agree that this is a good thing, or even agree with each other. A no vote can also be a vote of uncertainty and due to history of political failures
