Not voting for Biden when the only other viable option is a fascist seems a bit like edge lord bullshit to me, but idk, maybe I'm out of touch with slang
I don't think it's a bad thing to want to be paid for being the center of attention. There's pathological levels to it for sure, but we're communal, creative creatures. Maybe it depends on how we define influencer, idk. I was gonna comment that younger generations aren't fully developed physiologically, so the appreciation for fully human influence could be chalked up to that
I'm only vaguely keeping up with the news (I have PTSD relating to war/violence). Can you help me understand how universities are invested in Israel? What would divesting mean?
I've heard in psychology it's the opposite, which is kind of unfortunate. Like one guy I follow on YouTube talked about wanting to research something (can't remember what, but take something like pedophilia) but was told that if he went forward with it he'd be viewed as one because people often want to research what they're familiar with. I personally find that a bit more important to study than whether ants track their steps, but I'm just one person 🥲
Could you share some suggestions for the 1-2 pot recipes with a variation or two to demonstrate? I've started stocking up on oatmeal and frozen fruit, then frozen veggies that I season in the air fryer. Outside of that things like hummus, green bean casserole and chili are my go-tos. I'm not exactly a great cook but I'm trying to experiment more slowly replacing other simple shit like pizza rolls, bacon and eggs, etc. Especially if I can do large quantities to freeze and save leftovers
Like half of Americans are one paycheck away from being homeless. So what point exactly are you making? That you're morally superior for being better off? Or that we should wait until we have at least two paychecks saved? You have all the answers?
Is that similar to betterdiscord? I'm not the most tech literate but I've used that with plugins for tabs and whatnot. If there's a plugin for universal emojis I'd be sold
Just a friendly reminder there are therapists that work pro bono or for discounted rates. I'm paying $60/ session without insurance and it's an investment for my mental health, future relationships and career.
My local library saved my butt last week for a uni class I'm in, and I plan to follow up by buying the book now that I've read part of it and like it so much! "Happiness is a Choice You Make" by John Leland if anyone's curious:) I was skeptical of the title but he's building an excellent argument for it regarding aging
I'm taking a psychology of aging course that gets into the extreme cultural ageism against older adults, and man, I really can't begin to explain how much it's humbled me. We're reading a book called "Happiness is a Choice You Make" by John Leland that I want to recommend to everyone now.
I do wonder if there's a generational difference in how we've been exposed and take in information - along with younger adults and kids being more negatively impacted by the isolation of COVID - but otherwise, yeah, I was going to comment something similar. Throw in the AIDS crisis, satanic panic, and any number of other issues
The one thing I want to maybe disagree on is how much "better" things are today. In some ways, absolutely. In others, like stagnated wages, it's not. I'm not too interested in doing a deep dive on it today but I'll keep it in mind for a potential summer project
I thought the "benefits" to honey were kinda more for kids >1 so they can be exposed to different types of pollen. I dunno if it actually helps with immunity to allergies in the same way, but iirc it's similar with peanuts. Kids exposed to them young are much less likely to develop allergies to them
I'm still voting for Biden in a red state. We used to be more purple and really still are if looking just at the popular vote. He lost here by 500k votes in 2020 but it's very possible these narratives being pushed about swing states affect turnout more than we give credit for. We're lucky to get 50% turnout of registered voters in presidential elections. Local elections are more like 25% if we're being generous, and those are more important.
I'm down, you payin?
