Can't a phone just be a phone? For the love of god. Do we need to listen to music on everything? - some person 10 years ago

A phone is just a portable computer. Just like people not wanting both a console and a PC in their homes, I can understand wanting to use your phone as a Nintendo Switch alternative for portable gaming. Paired with a decent input device it could solve that craving without the need for both a phone and a separate portable game console in your pocket. I honestly think a decent implementation of this would be amazing (current phone gaming market is too focused on gacha mechanics and timers)

The Precession To Calvery was hilarious from beginning to end.

I also love the humor in Portal 1 and 2.

Frog detective is also super cute and funny.

If you like classic FF sea of stars might be up your alley. I've only played the beginning, but it feels really nice and the critical response has been amazing.

The only "magic" in the Prestige is the cloning device, which I feel fits with the theme. Actual magic would allow for him to just teleport, but he has to make do with cloning himself and killing the original.

PS5 can't even consistently give 4k60 on all titles. A tablet with a way lower power draw will not be able to do this for but a bare minimum of titles.

TIL it has an alternative ending. I'll look it up later!

For me it was amazing. I felt that the 2.5 D was the best implementation of this type of mechanic I had ever seen. The way stuff from behind the environment comes into the 2D plain and interacts with the player is awesome. Extremely polished, very well animated, amazing visual tone, great atmosphere. Great semi scripted sequences, fantastic setpieces and (for me) an incredible ending (though disturbing).

I honestly preferred A Way Out. Way more jank and less polished, but just the perfect mix of humor, drama, sillyness and emotions. And so many epic and memorable scenes.

But won't those criminals always find another way of communicating? If you're doing something illegal, it's worth it to you to go through some hoops to have safe and private communication. All this does is remove that option from less tech literate people.

My response was about the "that no one ever complained about" part of your initial comment. That is simply untrue, plenty of people have complained about it since the game was released.

I am also in favor of keeping the original and giving content warnings and relevant info or commentary, as this is the best way to integrate our sometimes troubled past in our future vision.

But I also feel that the word censorship is used very strongly here. The old metal gear solid games are in no way being "undone" or "hidden" by the existence of a new version. I feel that a CRT and a physical controller are also part of the original, is this then also being censored in the new version? Even if it is just a remaster, some decisions will be made to adapt it technically to modern systems, I don't see why doing the same in terms of some painfully dated content is considered censorship instead of just a new version. Just reducing some of the blatant boob gazing doesn't retroactively destroy the original Snake Eater in my opinion. But I guess it depends on what you see as a rerelease vs remaster vs remake. If you expect to have the exact original experience that I understand that you don't want anything changed, but then I also think you're best of playing the original.

Linux users (me included) are only a few percents of all PC users. I don't think they did it for us as a market, more to have an alternative to windows if they start closing down more (started with Windows 8 I believe). First try they fumbled a bit with the Steam Machines (Stream OS and proton weren't there yet and the prices were not really competitive) and now nailed it with the Steam Deck. I do love that they seem to care about openness to some degree!

I got this as part of a double buy together with Bionicle. I was a huge Bionicle nerd but ended up playing way more of this game. The combination of RTS and decreased focus on combat worked really well for me.

I am going to play the hell out of this once I get home.

I think you're misunderstanding the meaning of stereotype. A stereotype is a simplification, a reduction of a person to a basic property or idea. Stereotypes often have their origin in reality, but they do not describe the whole individual. That's why casting a generic white guy and sticking a prosthetic nose on his face to make him Jewish is strengthening a stereotype, while casting a Jewish person is not (even if this person happens to have a big nose themselves)

As an MMO, what is the gameplay loop currently? Doing quests or raids or pvp or just sandbox?

I have fond memories of Megaglest, an RTS similar to warcraft 3.

I love pits where everyone is helpful and just want to have a good time.

Like just having some wild fun, but once someone drops, everybody helps them up. Or immediately help someone who gets hurt or wants to leave the pit for some reason.

I also love it when someone drops something and this tiny circle gets created to help make space for the person searching. Or when you find something that looks important and lost you just hold it in the air and scream what your holding. I miraculously retrieved my glasses that way, that was the first and last time I wore my glasses in a pit :).
