Nah, just for the features. It's secure enough for just chit chat. I only use the secure message chat when I need to send documents to family.
I just like that they have clients on every platform, including Linux.
Niice! What did you like about it and what did you switch to. I'm on Ubuntu LTS right now. I just worry about driver issues, as everything I have hooked up seems to just work.
I like the fact that my messages are on in sync on all my devices. Yeah, it's not E2E, but it's good enough for just chatting with friends and family. I like how easy it is to send photos on it. Also being able to edit messages is nice for when you fat finger stuff.
And yeah, SimpleX seems like some spy level shit, neat though. I used Signal for a few years, back when it had SMS support.
10000000% this ...
Like I just wish everyone used Telegram for IRL chat.
Matrix and Discord is fine, there is even a bridge server you can run, so everyone can chat ala IRC.
(We run one, it's great).
How ya liking SimpleX?
I'm just rocking Discord, Matrix for internet ppl
WhatsApp and Telegram for RL ppl.
Used to use Signal, but Telegram replaced it a while back for me. Way better feature set.
I generally recommend GitTea if you need a nice simple Git server. Or ... Just use GitHub and be done with it.
Maybe GitLab if you cannot put company stuff on GitHub for some high security reasons.
Yeah, their extensions are okay, but it's mostly what you get in the box.
The remote SSH is sooo nice, I use it everyday for PowerShell from my Mac to Windows boxes.
Yeah, I definitely get that for something like Fortran. I used to do LUA a ton back in the day, and it was the only good IDE for it.
Yeah, I mean, if it works better for you, then good on you 😎
I mostly just stick to Python and Terraform. I used their GoLand IDE for a while, it was nice.
What extensions are ya using?
I've seen a lot of embedded folks really like VSCode.
I played around with it a little today, it's actually really nice, I still suck at vim, but the menu popups make me happy. Reminds me of micro a little.
For sure. Man I miss Windows 7, that was the best. No crap, updates just worked. Was nice.
