Lack of sports content is a bit of a rough spot for Lemmy. This is one of the few places where Linux memes get substantially more engagement than a super bowl thread.
Side note, the superb owl community here is pretty great.
I remember 2 years ago trying out Lemmy and getting a few laughs about beans and trying not to poop. I thought "this is ok, but I don't think this will ever replace Reddit in my day to day."
But I stuck with it and have come to love and appreciate Lemmy. The number of users has continued to grow and I feel like there's enough content here now that I never feel bored. Plus I feel like even small posts and comments get attention and we're not just screaming into the void.
I was gonna say, this mother fucker literally pulled out of the deal that was working to keep Iran from getting nuclear weapons in the first place. This would be like if I came home drunk and shit the bed, then held a family meeting saying I am instructing everyone in the house to work towards an end to shitting in the beds.
At first I was like "this video is 6 years old, how could this possibly be relevant to this conversation?"
Then I watched the video and realized, "yep... same shit, different day." The conservative playbook hasn't changed a bit and Democrats keep falling for it.
Yeah, but maybe Trump issuing illegal orders to the military and offering pardons to those that follow them would be the catalyst Congress needs to pass an amendment limiting presidential pardon power.
That's exactly it. Fox News demonizes and de-humanizes every minority group. I remember around 20 years ago, my grandparents got an openly gay couple as neighbors. My grandparents were shocked that their neighbors were just regular people.
They had watched enough conservative media that they had been convinced gay people were some sort of twisted abominations who were out to destroy our way of life.
Conservative media does that for every minority group (except the rich). Gays, immigrants, single mothers, the poor, atheists, trans people, educated people, etc. You name it, Fox News and co are constantly pushing this idea that anyone not like you (their audience) are your enemies and are trying to destroy America.
Yeah these companies 100% know what their workforce looks like. I had a family member who was a manager at meat packing plant in the Midwest. He would hire immigrants who would provide a social security number that he knew wasn't their own. If it came back as invalid, they would come back the next day with a different social security number and he would hire them.
This was the plant's policy, though eventually he did get fired for it when they needed a fall guy.
Damn that's interesting. I like how they walked through step by step how they got the exploit to work. This is what actual real hacking is like, but much less glamorous than what you see in the movies.
Made this a couple weeks ago for you
