  • @Forcemajeure123 @Seagoon on noodles I love to drizzle a little sesame oil and lemon juice over then after they've gone into my bowl

  • @Baku woah that's an interesting backstory thanks. I was thinking like "me=unstable parents, him=military parents" level of detail lol.
I was asking coz I've noticed that I (child of hippies, always movin') have a lot in common with children of military folks (always posted elsewhere, always movin'), and wondered if you'd hit a parallel dynamic.

  • @Baku @Seagoon
If you don't mind me asking, what (broadly speaking) are your respective backgrounds that led to you both moving round a lot and changing schools yearly etc?

  • @maegul @vividspecter
Yeah... I'm a100% YIMBY, but the issue I'm seeing for Straya is our status quo of large property developers calling the planning shots can't lead to any of the good outcomes some parts have Europe have seen (e.g. Vienna) and instead seem to point towards entrenching the growing divide between those who can afford a house and those who can't.

  • @CEOofmyhouse56 we're so surrounded by screens... I just never saw the point in buying another screen where someone else schedules the programming.

  • @Duenan @RustyRaven I went thru a "half a shot of decent espresso plus a bit of decaf instant powder so it doesn't taste too weak" phase when tapering

  • @RustyRaven @CEOofmyhouse56 I'm 49 and heavily addicted to caffeine but take a few months break every 12-18 months. My time from decaf to more energized is 5 weeks.

  • @CEOofmyhouse56 I'm not sure.... I quite like having just the one holiday that slaps itself randomly into my calendar... Easter is always Mon/Fri, xmas is always a week off, the rest are Mondays.

  • @CEOofmyhouse56
Two things can be true at the same time right.
I'll help out whenever and wherever I can to get the sick date that commemorates the start of a genocide shifted to a different day, but whenever my day off work is granted by the powers that be, I'm gonna party on that day.

  • @Gibsonisafluffybutt
Pretty similar in terms of repetitiveness.
Better in that I'm involved in a couple of longer term projects like running a Community of Practice and developing some internal standards for the org.
    Work, eh.

  • @Gibsonisafluffybutt @TinyBreak
I have been internal IT for four years after a long time at MSPs, mostly on-site but sometimes off.
Overall, yes, my career progressed slower. But I was able to work for client companies in a wide variety of sectors, and that helped me understand what sector I wanted to be in, so, swings & roundabouts.
