  • So why are you being a shitty person right now? Possibly because you're anonymous? Cool.

  • Yes, if he was shot in the back with a silenced gun while leaving his hotel at 645am.

There is no justice in that.

  • You're all ghouls. Each and every one of you who revels in this. Ironically, that's exactly what you claim his crime was.

I'm ashamed and embarrassed to be associated with you miserable wretches who would glorify murder to sate your revenge fantasies. You have no shame.

None of you know anything about this man aside from his occupation. You're all hateful, ignorant, self-righteous assholes.

  • I'm leaving Lemmy

  • Any particular reason?

  • I definitely have to admit some pro JFK bias as an Irish American 😅

But I obviously also have rationales for why I think he was a great president. Foremost among them is that I feel he was a truly independent political force that was beholden neither to his party nor to external interests. His popularity, wealth, and personal relationship with the American people gave him the potential to do radical things against the wishes of the entrenched oligarchy, which is possibly why he was assassinated. He demonstrated a willingness and a capacity to upend the established order.

William Henry Harrison is often considered among the worst for the simple reason that he did die. Put on a coat mah boi, we didn't elect your ass to get a cold and die instantly.

because lemm.ee is still federated with both hexbear and 'grad and .world and the more pro western servers which helps me train my critical thinking and arguing

I wish hexbear was more into debating and less into memeing. I find that they tend to run away from serious debate and prefer to troll. Honestly lemmygrad has seemed less annoying to me than hexbear lately because they seem more likely to take things seriously and make legitimate arguments. I don't see too much of them because I'm usually on my main account and sjw blocks them.

I use my account at lemmy.myserv.one in a similar way to your lemm.ee account, but since I'm an admin here I end up spending way more time on this account.

    1. Lincoln
    2. FDR
    3. Washington
    4. Teddy Roosevelt
    5. Jefferson
    6. Eisenhower
    7. Truman
    8. JFK
    9. LBJ
    10. Obama

JFK would have been top 5 if he hadn't been gunned down 2 years into his presidency 😭

    @zyratoxx@lemm.ee

I prefer talking about the best, talking about the worst just makes me depressed.

  • Basically we were in the process of having a discussion about defederating them, and then they blocked us before we could have a vote in c/Agora.

So it seemed like the problem was solved. But the fact that they don't appear on our blocklist has been misleading to others, so I think it's better to make it official.

  • For the record, I just added hexbear to the sjw blocklist.

They use an allowlist and they previously removed us from it, so we were effectively defederated already for most of the past year. But it seems that they may have refederated with us silently within the past couple weeks. I'm not exactly sure.

Anyway, I've heard this rumor about us still being federated with hexbear a few times, so I decided to clarify the situation.

  • You'll have to message the community mods for clarification. They're the ones who created and maintain the community, so they get to decide who gets banned and why.

Getting banned for a comment in another community is certainly possible, depending on what you said. I don't necessarily agree with that moderation style and it doesn't represent most communities on SJW, but that particular community tends to attract some heavy trolling, so I can understand if they're a bit trigger-happy on the ban hammer.

  • I just looked at your modlog history and it could be for multiple reasons. You have used some offensive language in the past. That probably has something to do with it.

  • I'm on Lemmy all the time and I didn't know that community. But thanks for sharing, this is what I'm talking about.

  • Tbf you're on Lemmy 24/7 so you'll hear about things much earlier than many others. I've also been on Piefed for a minute.

But I've come to understand how slowly knowledge propagates through large numbers of people, at least via this medium. First with the APIcaplyse, when I realized that virtually nobody on reddit had even heard of the API changes, let alone moving to Lemmy. And then on Lemmy itself with various major events/dramas that people were totally unaware of until much later.

Piefed is developing rapidly and seems like a worthy alternative to Lemmy and Mbin. The private voting feature is also really cool.

  • I guess that's possible, I was just saying the two most likely things that came to mind. I wouldn't necessarily expect money launderers to rely on a teenager, but I also don't have any personal experience in this area.

  • Probably either from crypto or dealing drugs

  • I didn't downvote. But I didn't upvote either.

It's just not really a good meme at all, so it's going to get downvotes. That's what downvotes are for.

The more unusual circumstance is that it got so many upvotes despite being a crappy meme. This clearly indicates that we have a lot of Lemmy users who support trans youth. Good for us, that makes me glad. Still not good content for this particular community imho, so I didn't upvote.

  • Yeah I do this frequently. Then I randomly go back to people's profiles and often find interesting communities and threads that way.

  • It's not an entertaining meme

  • Do we have yous/youse? According to my understanding that's technically not a real word yet, it's slang.

2nd person singular used to be thou/thee back in the middle ages, but it all eventually melded into you.

I feel like y'all is the newer American version of 2nd person plural, while yous/youse/yinz are the non-American English counterparts.

I have always used you guys in a gender neutral manner historically, but people occasionally got offended by that. So I started using y'all several years ago and it's been going pretty good. Although I did initially spell it like ya'll until someone corrected me on reddit 😅
