  • I've looked and looked over the years, but no microwave I've ever owned as let me adjust the wattage, even though I've often seen this tip. Is this just an EU thing, or a bougie microwave thing?

  • Christ, my heart goes out to these parents. I cannot imagine the hell they're living right now, makes me sick thinking about my own 6 week old. I'll definitely be rethinking leaving him alone with our border collies from now on. It was so big of them to decide on organ donation; they're basically using their loss to save other families.

  • Not when you're interviewing for your Eagle they haven't. Describing how you serve your higher power is still a question at the final interview before receiving it. Either you lie as an atheist, or you tell the truth and don't get your Eagle. So either violate what it's supposed to mean to be a scout (integrity and honesty) or you throw away what you've worked so hard for for years.

And that's ignoring the fact that many troops are hosted via churches, especially in southern areas.

  • A lot of baby cows are just straight up kidnapped from mom and killed. No way around that. Some are raised to adulthood, but on most dairy operations the kidnapping still happens even then, otherwise the calf ends up drinking the farmer's 'product' and cutting into profits. Look up footage of a calf being taken from its mom in this process. Absolutely fucking devastating.

  • Hopefully since covid forced a lot of hospitals to shut down their nurseries and switch to what's called "rooming in" where a baby stays with mom pretty much at all times, this happens less than it already did.

Heck, I'm just out in podunk Oklahoma, where we are a bottom 10 state for women, but even here, the hospital we picked to have our kid does all procedures in the room right where you can see after baby is born, and hands them right back to mom. They never leave you (unless you elect for a circumcision for some god awful reason), which is a huge relief for me. I was gonna be ripping out that epidural and catheter so fast to follow my fucking infant if they took him from out of my sight for even a minute.
