  • Most of it is all tied up together, and they have no ability or desire to look inward to parse those desires out. So they externalize and project everything outward making it our problem.

It's also why Grindr pops off every time a conservative rally is in a town. They hate the gays+theys, and also want to fuck them. Same same for powerful women.

  • I mean, the ability to run long distances without tiring is kind of what makes humans an apex predator. We can out-endurance just about every other creature. Most ancient human hunting techniques involved just wounding an animal, and then literally chasing it until it got too tired to keep going.

Wolves are very similar, which is what made us such natural hunting companions. The co-evolution of humans and dogs is an extremely interesting rabbit hole, if anyone is looking for one.

All that to say, the wolf would understand the need to run more than just about any other animal. A bear would work better here. A wolf would just see us running and think 'game recognizes game', just like they already did eons ago :3

  • How do you mean? Dinosaurs? They were warmblooded, so no, not just lizards. Usually in the rock around the fossilized bones are imprints of other features of the animal, like skin texture or the presence of feathers.

We can also tell a lot from the points where muscles attach to the bones.

That's not even accounting for the behavior we can interpret based on fossilized footprints! We're actually learning that T-Rex were pretty good parents for instance.

It's a very complex field, and it's amazing how much we can learn from so few clues.

  • Right, and that's why most people would believe this meme and take it as 100% truthful. The meme doesn't specify that that's the way we USED to do it, it says that's how it would be done

  • Was this the fish passing after a few minutes, hours, days? If you remember at all. Was there any controlling for gill damage during the catch? I know some idiots who will hold them up by the gills for pictures, I wonder if that causes damage? Or just dying from shock? I wonder if I can find the study

  • So tired of this meme, especially in a science themed sub. It's just wrong and thusly promotes disinformation because it takes seconds to read a meme like this and move on without question. Meanwhile it takes (comparitavely) ages to actually research how fossils are reconstructed. If people even think to research it in the first place, because, hey, it's in a science-based sub, right??

Remember kids, the best memes are those based on truth 😎

  • If you don't think the same of a vulva, then you're only outing yourself as having incredibly little imagination/experience with them. CIA couldn't have gotten that out of me, honestly.

  • Didn't the original GTA/RDR writers leave after finishing RDR2 anyway? Another worry I have is that this game will have none of the story/writing that made the previous games great, and is just a Rock star cash grab because they own the IP.

  • Again, the target audience loves that shit. I don't know if you've watched a game lately, but most of the advertisements now are split pretty evenly between:

    1. Jesus gets us ads
    2. Military propaganda ads
    3. Big truck ads
    4. Fast food ads

The NFL is a money-making machine, and it knows its audience. If they're doing this, they know their base will eat it up, and I 100% agree. Many people who haven't tuned in to a game in years will tune in to watch just to show support.

Truly, this is how fucked we are.

  • I definitely get it. Ecological fallout keeps me up in cold sweats more nights than not. I'm not sure most people realize how bad it could get, either. All the trees in the world don't make enough oxygen to replace the oxygen we'd need if the cyanobacteria in the ocean dies out, and it's getting perilous with the acidification of the ocean.

That said, I do still see raising a child well as an act of hope for the future. As a parent, that's my most important mission. Could they possibly die/suffer? Yes, but unfortunately that's a risk that all parents run by having a child (and all people run by being alive), no matter what the cause turns out to be. Climate disaster, leukemia, car wreck, it all nets the same thing— pain and suffering for your child. I guess I just take the stance of the Man and the Boy in the Road: we're the ones that carry the fire, and we have to keep carrying it to keep hope and other good things alive.

I'm not saying everyone needs to have kids though! It's rewarding, but this shit is hard as fuck. It's not for everyone. Hell, it wasn't for me until I aged about three decades and did serious work on myself. Adoption is also an option, though harder to do than most people think unfortunately :/

  • While many beautiful things are passing away, that implies that there aren't still beautiful things here worth fighting for. I see value in bringing new people into the world and helping them love it and it's life like I do. The world needs more people who care fighting for it, not less.
