  • None of this is shocking because neoliberals are still, at heart, corporatists. Maybe they're even worse and corporate apologists. Despite the overwhelming evidence that capitalism is failing, they still prop it up. Shaking my damn head at the level of cognitive dissonance here.

  • That's funny!

  • That is disappointing that the union just rolled over o that one. Yeah, it's fucked alright!

  • It comes down to the discomfort of change. Basic human psychology abhors change. This is why people continue to work in miserable jobs, etc.

  • Hillary Swank is one helluva fine actress. I like her because she isn't typically Hollywood beautiful. She has an imperfect beauty about her that positively radiates.

  • It's apathy. People are too concerned with being in survival mode versus living. This is again a feature of capitalism, not a bug.

  • Yes, The OA was quality. Another show I liked was starring Hillary Swank about a first manned mission to Mars and the challenges both the astronauts, their families, and their societies faced.

  • Simply get started using the OpenBSD FAQ. I think the Gen9 Thinkpad X1 should work. I just don't know if it uses NVIDIA crap. If it does, you're shit outta luck. As for the first generation Apple silicon, I don't know how feature complete OpenBSD is on that platform.

  • I would love for somebody to create a lemmy community that's similar to r/touchthafishy. That was a fun cat-centric one.

  • It's not really lazy writing. It's just one more symptom of capitalism. Why spend more money to develop ideas when it is cheaper and there are higher profit margins to keep recycling the same old stories but changing a few things.

  • This is one example of the many pathologies and abject failures of capitalism. Stephanie Pullman was not some random thing. She was a person. She mattered to people. People mattered to her. Nothing short of a shift towards anarcho-communism will really save both humanity and the beautiful planet we live on. Capitalism is parasitic, amoral, and greed driven. Why else do we see virtually no improvement in mental health medications and the cost for generics of 30+ year old ones priced to the point where one almost needs to make a choice between rent and food or stable mental health.

  • This is mainstream media and I cannot help but wonder what the angle really is because I don't see any turbocharging going on with regards to clean energy and climate change. Is this meant to gaslight us into believing this is in the works while BP Shell, Exxon, et al continue to push fossil fuels? Given the lobby size of Big Oil I am left wondering. When billions of dollars are at stake, any capitalist industry throws money to lobbyists and lobby groups in serious and concerted efforts to preserve the status quo. That much said, I hope I am really fucking wrong because our planet is reacting violently to what we are doing to it.

  • I think one of them has to be North By Northwest, the Alfred Hitchcock thriller.

  • I do as well but FreeBSD made a lot of self-inflicted wounds. OpenBSD on the other hand runs surprisingly well on a variety of hardware. It won't run well on the absolute latest but one or two generations behind it works gangbusters.

  • I am certainly not going to crucify you for it. While FreeBSD is a fantastic operating system, its hardware support is lacking.

  • In truth, all corporate, algorithm-based social media is vile. The fediverse is an order of magnitude less toxic.

  • Fucking facebook is the worst.

  • This is a good thing! Corporate social media is a bad thing.
