  • It is! I know that Mastodon and Lemmy support it. I cannot speak for any of the others though.

  • It's actually a series of books Clavelle wrote. He's really a good author too. The research that he put into writing his historical fiction accounts remain true to the known records of the time. I don't often reread books but I genuinelly enjoy revisiting his series.

  • Healthcare and capitalism have no business whatsoever being in the same sentence, let alone being permitted.

  • I have not but I did read Shogun by James Clavelle. It is an epic novel and quite a good read. I should check this one out. I am quite curious about it.

  • I think I would rather work with a builder for higher density housing simply because the money could be stretched further. We need to rethink the concept of housing and homes.

  • I love to see people impassioned about learning anything! I'd love it even more if learning were done for the pure sake and joy of it and without a monetary calculation assigned.

  • I think I would be a samurai. Samurai, while fierce warriors, were also poets and great appreciators of the arts.

  • So then this begs the question of why our elected representatives are going against our wishes. The only immediate forthcoming answer that I can think of is that the wealthy and powerful feel that by not outlawing abortion and LGBTQ equality, they risk giving up social control that they see necessary to preserve the status quo.

  • I would go with Akkoma over Pleroma but that's just me. I also like what I see in Calckey (Fire Fish). I like how Fire Fish allows the data migration of follower/following lists and posts. Feature-wise, Mastodon is falling behind a little but I am ultimately satisfied with the platform and I have a lot of time invested in learning it and maintaining it. Rather than learn a new platform, I need to invest my energies in a web development class so that I can make my escape from a miserable career in desktop support.

  • I miss the days before it became all corporatized. The days of the early world wide web and gopher made the internet a whole lot of fun. I had a blast with usenet and internet relay chat as well. Even email was freaking awesome. I remember getting excited when I'd receive messages. Thankfully that excitement is getting rekindled due in a large part to corporate's own hubris. The growth of the fediverse is making the internet fun again.

  • I consider myself a rather avid technology reader and try to stay up on the trends and this one completely escaped me, I am sorry to say.

  • With 100 billion dollars, I would spend all of it on housing to end homelessness. Let's just provide homes for as many people as possible. All of it would get spent on this if I had my way.

  • The freedom to criticize our leadership is cherished. This professor should never have been suspended for legitimate and legally protected behavior. I hope she seeks legal remediation for this.

  • While I like the UI/UX experience of Kbin, I will still choose Lemmy for the more reddit-like experience that it offers. I find kbin's nomenclature of magazines as being equivalent to sub-reddits awkward. Furthermore, it's trying to be a blend of twitter and reddit. I like the general free/open source approach of one tool for one job rather than trying to do a bunch of different things sub-optimally.

  • PragerU are nothing but a bunch of alt-right bigoted assholes

  • As an aspiring web developer, I shall refuse to use it once I learn.

  • The fact that this was done relatively in secrecy really bothers me. I mean it really tweaks my tail.

  • There's really no need for TikTok either. 😉
