  • The second part sounds a bit like a copout. They have done military interventions in a lot of different regions. The US has ransacked a growing number of countries just to get rid of a small amount of "baddies".

You don't get to destroy shit and leave. If you play world police, start doing the whole job, not parts of it. And I'm totally fine with US starting less interventions because they don't wanna clean up after themselves. Probably a net positive given the history in the middle east.

  • I just remembered this might be illegal in the EU. A digital service company is not allowed to process identifying information unless in very specific circumstances (e.g. online banking or government processes).

That's straight up incompatible with GDPR in my opinion.

    Obligatory IANAL.

  • It's still a good idea. Here's why: They are legally bound to it, thanks to EU laws, and if they still do it they could get into a world of shit. So they are really careful about what they are doing with that data. And that's a small W in my back. Otherwise I could get money in court. And I do like money too.

  • How the f did Elon manage to resist this even for a little bit. That shit is like prosecution 101, this makes Elon look so much worse than he did, and it makes Twitter look incredibly unreliable.

There is something that should blow up in the media.

  • Timeline:

    • Gamers Nexus made a video about an assortment of inaccuracies in recent LTT videos, as well as ethical concerns regarding sponsoring companies and reviewed companies
    • Linus makes a written response on his forum that's not well received
    • small drama channels and a few bigger tech channels take notice
    • Gamers Nexus addresses the response in a video and doubles down on their criticism
    • LTT uploads a video giving small insights into what happened and says they will stop operations this week and discuss everything thoroughly, they get both sympathy and hate for it
    • more drama channels and social media is starting to take notice
    • Madison Tweets serious allegations against the workplace, her direct managers and even Linus himself (includes tight schedules right up to SA allegations)
    • a lot of big YouTube Drama/News channels start getting involved
    • LTT makes a statement regarding Madison's allegations saying they take it very seriously and they'll contract a third party to conduct investigations.
    • a lot of social media sites get flooded by bits and pieces of it
  • But isn't that what he just said? It's not sexism if someone is just shooting an idea down. Stealing the idea is morally apprehensible. Shooting an idea down because "it's you" is discriminatory. Shooting an idea down because "a woman had it", now that's sexism.

I see a lot of ppl claim sexism, and it might as well be present, even if subtly for a lot of different companies. That said, context matters, and you can be an absolute prick to ppl with out even invoking any sexism.

E.g. I hear students doing an internship often get overlooked. Not cool, some of them are geniuses. Same goes for ppl lower in the corporate ladder vs. higher in the corporate ladder.

What I'm trying to say is: let's be absolutely clear with what we define as sexism, because it shouldn't lose it's meaning by being inserted into discrimination. You don't need sexism there everytime to involve OSHA.

Also let's make this clear: if Madison's allegations are true (and she doesn't have a horse in this race so there's a good chance they are), we can straight up skip the sexism and go straight to harassment, abuse, sexual assault, and more. I hope she is able to grasp the sheer horror that this really was, because she should know that no one deserves that and ppl will support the fight in her name.

  • I hope I understand correctly but do you mean a map of specific objects or phenomena that different research groups are looking at?

That would be hell of a lot of work but it wouldn't only be pretty, it would help the research to make sure they don't miss anything. Because you know, there's kind of a lot of shit out there.

  • They all said they are pushing out videos far too quick, and Madison Reeves pointed to instances of working for free on weekends, being overworked, and problems with payment.

I'm not saying it's definite, but it smells like there's some truth to it.

  • Just to expand on that, it's a very basic encryption, but it provides a little bit of a safe standard. When ppl talk about "encrypted communication" they usually talk about more than that. For example, apps like telegram use some more advanced encryption iirc.

  • Call me a fanboy but this is not the worst response.

A few things that still annoy me ofc:

    • Madison's concerns were not addressed (she JUST wrote it, so fair enough, but that shit needs to be addressed)
    • everything sounds a bit scripted. Shit, just let them say what concerns them and the specifics of what they actually wanna address. Like give examples, so we know that you guys get it.
    • Linus blaming others sticks out. I wanna give him the benefit of the doubt and say he's doing it unconsciously but it really bothers me and I hope it's just truckloads of stress that he'll be able to work through. This is not meant as an insult, but it sounds to me he should get a therapist to talk himself through the feelings. It helped me, and I can smell the pent up emotions through the screen.

It's not perfect, but it's a start. Let's see what comes in response in the next while.

Also whoever hurt, degraded and ruined Madison's mental health fuck you. I know it won't happen, but if you read this Madison, what you went through was wrong and unfair and fuck everyone who hurt you, you did the right thing and now that you're gone, life will improve. If you got through your worst nightmare, you will easily get through the next weeks.

  • Understatement of the fucking century. I mean I know they got some data wrong but this is Blizzard level of workplace harassment.

With the assault and shit that's straight up criminally illegal.

I'm so sorry for her; she probably gets the love she deserves now but it shouldn't have taken so long and it's time to start from scratch with this company.

  • If you want a chaotic answer to this, Yes Theory has made 2 episodes specifically on a region in Japan and Italy where people get really old.

Spoiler: their conclusion was happiness and a little bit of carelessness, but the video included a lot of different aspects.
