  • Ok first of all I get you, as someone from Europe, the greatest strengths of America often sound like the biggest weaknesses to me.

And then ofc if you wanna talk about it I'm here and I will listen :) hope you're doing good.

  • I mean tbf the track record is very clear. Russia can't be trusted. But ofc you are right, we also don't know if we can trust the arsonists.

I have a feeling those arsonists are trying to put this on state actors so the Russian government has to distance themselves this making their story even more confusing and less plausible. I think it's just a novel way to attack the Russian narrative.

    1. That's a lot of assumptions
    2. Nope we have a big Nazi problem and most of us learn that the only right way to go about it is to be very self critical with our history and to call those racist dipshits out whenever we can

    Also

Half of Germany where commie spys

That's a hell of a statement. I wish I could show you how wrong you are. Just look at the origin of our past terrorist attacks and you will see a trend and a priority list for us.

    Also obligatory fuck afd

  • Yeah I'm totally with you.

I would even go as far as saying: an AI that trains on released books and can write new texts shouldn't be seen as bad either. Yes there is a lingering question about compensating writers in some way, but looking at how these tools work basically makes you realize, it will never generate a text as good as an original writer on its own. It can only ever be less than all the median of all the works collected. And it will not store the original works, it only learns the style they are written in.

And I'm kind of scared as well. If we don't make AI happen and figure out the right monetization systems for it, another country will, and they might give zero fucks and start crawling the works anyway. We'll just lose the upper hand on the development.

And I am saying that as someone who will be on the other end too, soon. I am a music producer, developer and I do 3d compositions. I am a bit scared of what's about to change but mostly just stoked to see what different aspects of my work will become more and less important.

I still believe change is good. And I always will.

  • Maybe it's me but some of the things in this articles make me question their reporting.

What makes sense to me is that they have been involved with some shady crypto companies and they have been opaque about their goals, with some of the developers disagreeing with the CEO every now and again.

What rubs me the wrong way is the focus on his own political viewpoint (this is holy irrelevant to the software), his involvement with FTX (almost no one saw the collapse coming. It was one of only a few crypto companies that people didn't expect to be that shady) and getting a cease and desist from a newspaper corporation (this is much expected and frankly idk if the cease and desist even holds up. This is not as shady as the article makes it out to be and legally this is not cotton dry at all iirc. IANAL tho ofc)

I agree it's not the best idea to mindlessly go on using Brave, but honestly this article is really not that good.

  • Dude you want the Reddit protests to work but also that they don't affect anyone? That's literally the opposite of a protest. The important thing for a protest is to show how much someone depends on something to level the playing field for negotiations.

These are the exact things that make the protest effective. You admitted it yourself: because of this action, you had to find your information somewhere else. Isn't that the point of the protest? Driving people away from Reddit to show the admins how critical their userbase is to their success?

I mean I get why you're mad, but if you are pissed at spez and where Reddit is heading too, this is the wrong thing to be mad about.

Rather be mad the Reddit holds such a monopoly on this kind of knowledge that you can't find it almost anywhere else.

  • Windows. Everything is straight forward and I can still make some custom or niche stuff work.

I don't like Linux, because a lot of programs don't work, and I don't want to create my own 3D application or DAW from scratch. Not worth my time.

I don't like Apple because the money I'd put into that I'd rather put to better use.

  • I'm always sceptical about those claims.

Let them prove it, and then we can decide if it's good or not, instead of getting our hopes up for empty promises.

Not the first time ppl have made outlandish claims with AI, even though of course you'd expect someone like Nvidia to be cognisant about this kind of marketing.

  • I agree with the experts. I mean ppl can have an opinion but I wasn't on the storyboard team so I have no clue whether that would even fit the storyline they were following and whether it would help the story in furtherance.

I get the opinion, I don't see why we need an article about it.
