  • The thing I'd like to know is, considering there's a good chance he gets convicted, what then? If he's in office, does he have immunity? Does his presidency fall short and he has to move into prison? Can they delay the process of him moving into office?

This is of course relying on the fact that there's also a good chance he gets elected again.

  • German here.

Even back under Merkel, elected parties had a habit of defining good goals and then rendering them impossible to hit through policy. This meant that no one could fault them for trying, and no one could fault them for not being able to hit them.

Nowadays my countrymen aren't as stupid anymore. That doesn't mean we can do anything about it, but especially since Merkel we don't believe any of these leaks anymore.

  • Don't even have to look so far. Japan's work ethic is awful, suicide rates are high and because of this the birth rate is declining.

I was very suspicious on China's remarks as they have a track record of doing PR for themselves and no one else.

  • If I understand correctly, that means this is setting precedent for the extreme without human intervention. So any other wrinkles must be decided in precedent from other cases on a gradient between "AI made" and "human made"

  • And foreign policies

Basically, there's no direct laws to prosecute other countries. There's only sanctions. And since we can't pull them in front of the Hague, we are using sanctions. And with "we" I mean all of the world except for a few rogue nations like Saudi Arabia, North Korea, China, India, and a few more iirc.

  • That is 26$/h spent in prison. Take that for what you will, but it's hard for me to define how to compensate someone fairly for wrongful imprisonment. Money comes, money goes, but time only passes. It won't come back.
