  • No it doesn't matter to ask yourself that as it's impossible to honestly predict. Different cars, different teams different people altogether. We only have data on how Stroll did, and it wasn't great. And nobody is getting that seat anyway as long as Stroll owns that team.

  • Can you elaborate? I can find articles that say there have been layoffs but what does that mean for the platform and how it supports the artists? Is it basically dead and not worth using anymore? I want the large majority of my money to go to the artist not the label or platform shareholders, is there something similar to bandcamp in that regard? Don't suggest physical media please a lot of artist either don't make any or are extremely difficult to find and buy.

  • Well a lot of people have forgotten why Daniel left in the first place. Because he didn't perform. He still hasn't proven that he's really back to podium finishing form at all. We haven't seen anything from him yet that would indicate he'd be better than Perez.

  • Let's not tell him than even when there is no bad luck, he finishes 10 places behind Fernando. He absolutely is the reason Aston is struggling in the championship. They would probably be 2nd if he was even slightly closer to his teammate.

  • Fair enough, then we don't race on moto gp tracks as we agree it's too dangerous for them. There's plenty of tracks where they don't get out of the lines because it's either slower or your race is done if you go over. Lines and penalties don't work no matter what we argue here. Every single driver will tell you they want a physical limit not a theoretical one. The problem is track design not driver visibility. They go out by centimeters at worse, that's not the kind of thing an AR visor will fix.

  • We've had walls for millennias. Way simpler than AR visors and holographic lines. They work great too, just look at baku and Monaco.

  • It's a track design issue. The drivers just go as fast as possible and no matter what we say, lines won't actually deter them. The curbs barely affect the car now so there's no danger to go hard and maybe too wide. Even with smaller cars drivers haven't seen the lines under their tire since at least the mid 90's anyway.

  • That's basically what gravel pits do. The problem is large flat curbs that don't upset the car. Just put walls, we race in Baku and Monaco no problem there.

  • How could joysticks replace keyboards apart from forcing you to use a virtual keyboard with a joystick? Is everything else about computing the same or is it some form of fantasy joystick centered computer? Anyway what's more important is that joysticks already exist in computing and we know they serve a specific purpose and really suck for the rest cause we tried. We designed the computer after all so we control how we interact with them. Not like we found them in the wilds and they somehow only had a joystick.

  • I was speaking of aero issues mainly, not only wet racing. And is there really no other places where cars could be lightened? Like the whole hybrid drivetrain has to be heavier than two thin carbon fenders no? So sorry but I feel like the weight argument is so easily worked around I can't believe it's the only reason. And they would be what 30kg and that's pushing, this is not formula breaking weight.

And formula e has wheel fenders.

  • Ahhhh traditions. The anchor of progress. I would really like if someone gave me a proper reason as to why open wheels are desirable apart from, and even that would be a stretch, looks. Not that it would be proper anyway.

  • I can always dream but I'd be all for it. Let WEC be considered the pinnacle of motorsport and not that mockery of a sport we have now. At least WEC isn't packaged like a weekend long superbowl half-time.

  • A little bit off topic but I'm seriously questionning how important is the completely open-wheel design. For a decade now we're hearing the turbulence the tire creates is a major hurdle to aero development that inevitably leads to cars that can't race each other. And I'm not talking about making aero cars like WEC but something more similar to a dialed down RedBull X2010. Open suspension, open cockpit but enclosed wheels. I just don't understand why the tires have to be out.

Sure this wouldn't fix the rooster tail spray modern cars create but it would mitigate all the water the tires displace. What am I missing here, why can't we cover the tires?

  • Ah yeah the gear goblins are real I swear. They keep telling me I absolutely need a 6-string fretless to get good and I think they might actually be right you know, it just makes so much sense. Why waste time limiting myself to 4-strings. But they also think I'm too dumb and will have to get a 5 string before, I really need to take baby steps after all... Ahh well, it's not like I needed that 5k anyway.

  • True. But also equally true if you do buy equipment and indulge in every temptation. There is absolutely egregiously expensive gear in all shapes and forms.
