  • Did you upgrade to beta 25 yet? Generally you might wait a few more days until all the pricing stuff is working properly, google is still rolling it out.

  • Wait a couple days, regional pricing is not working yet. That's a Google problem.

  • Ultra =! Pro

Adfree is available as a separate lifetime purchase for 10 USD.

  • Most FOSS apps are equal to or better than proprietary software when it comes to functionality, but look like they were coded in the stone age.

Most casual users value GUI over everything. And while I personally can overlook shitty user interfaces on apps I use once in a blue moon, for a social media app I'm using daily, that's a no go.

  • Yep, long press any setting and it will create an internal link for you to paste that Sync users can click.

  • Sync Ultra and Adfree are two different things altogether.

Ultra comes with adfree as a perk among with a ton of other stuff, but if all you care for is adfree, that's $9.99 lifetime.

  • You can still run the old software without account, as long as you never upgrade. Some third party file hosters keep it around. We got an HP at work and I refuse to give them even my business email.

  • In that case the company could make the app free, but it wouldn't be useable for anyone who didn't own the base service, I guess.

And users who'd want to subscribe to the base service must then be able to do so through the app, that's part of Google's requirements.

  • It's a separate app, you can't restore reddit purchases. That option would be in case of a migration from one phone to another.

  • Donation links are a violation of Google's T&C and will get an app banned.

  • If we want to start our own traditions, why the hell are we copying reddit yet again?

  • With the JWT secret rotation, shouldn't everyone be forced to re-login? I'm posting with my existing session without any changes.

  • Issue:

So, I've created !childfree as a local community, seemingly normal. Only, it doesn't seem to be accessible to anyone locally.

Meaning, https://lemmy.world/c/childfree gives me a 404. Instead, I have to open it as https://lemmy.world/c/childfree@lemmy.world - initially I thought maybe I had made an error creating the community and added the instance, but trying to replicate it shows that @ is not a permitted character, so the problem must have come from elsewhere.

From other instances now I can access it just fine: https://latte.isnot.coffee/c/childfree@lemmy.world or https://feddit.de/c/childfree@lemmy.world (where the @instance is the default behaviour). Locally however, that should not have happened.

Even if I enter the community locally, and click on the !childfree just below the name of the community, it gives me a local 404 (see below).

Any idea what's going on here, and how to resolve the problem? Since we are redirecting users from our sub here, it's creating quite some headaches... And apparently users trying to subscribe from other instances also don't see any posts for up to 48h (tried that myself).

Edit: Apparently I cannot access the community via feddit.de. The other one works fine though - I do have accounts on either instance.
