Yeah, thanks, it sounds like you're right since people using other brands don't seem to have this issue. My partner is extremely particular about this brand of TP though so I guess I'm just gonna have to live with it.

I have a bidet with toilet paper to dry off/for guests/for various other uses for toilet paper.

Not near a window and the dust is thicker and primarily builds up below the toilet paper roll and on the holder. It's not the same as regular dust build up. I mitigate by placing the bin under the roll but it still gets everywhere.

It's hard to get a picture but this is the thicker dust on my toilet brush, which sits just next to the bin/toilet.

Okay, but given your original comment that the people who "are already here" (eg. Canadian citizens) should be the only ones to vote, you do seem to be lending weight to the idea that people who were already here should be making the decisions.

Do you think that the first immigrants (settlers) to come here from England and France should also not have been allowed to decide on how the country was run? Or is it only new immigrants that shouldn't be allowed a voice in government? What's the cutoff?

I think the majority of people who spend most of their days bringing joy (comedians) tend to have dark background. Doesn't surprise me that clowns would equally have some awful shit that pushed them to see the bright side of life more clearly.

The Blackfoot nation on which Maslow based his hierarchy of needs would actually have a celebration each year where they'd give everything they'd amassed away.

The actual basis for the "hierarchy" of needs is essentially that a community takes care of each other so that all needs are met, and this is found not just in Blackfoot but along the majority of indigenous cultures. (I write in quotes because it was never really a hierarchy, it was more of a cyclical chain of getting needs met)

There's a really good read on what inspired the Hierarchy of Needs here. Most of the changes that Maslow made to his findings were actually due to him wanting to make it more palatable for his individualistic colonial audience.

I'm Canadian. I don't mind accepting American refugees as long as we also learn to accept refugees from other countries and value them all equally, but our current government isn't doing that.

Why would you assume that every single (non American) immigrant that comes here would want to change the way Canada is run? Considering the vast majority come here because they like the way it's run. This is such a wild take.

Besides, the politics of this country were built on genocide and do not reflect the values of the land's original caretakers that were here for tens of thousands of years. I think the OP was originally about fried preparation of potatoes. Wedges at least in North America are usually fried, I think the only non-fried ones I've seen are in the UK.

Yeah it really depends on what you consider success. For a lot of people, money & power isn't necessarily the marker for success, and finding meaning and joy in life is more important. And I know that sounds like capitalist "money doesn't buy you happiness" bs, but striving towards money and power consistently is the most capitalist thing you can do.

I think people who are able to attain a good amount of money to survive and still maintain their morals and find joy, that's success.

Newer SVU episodes also acknowledge the issues and often essentially have the message that they (the very specific SVU team) are the only non-terrible NYPD team even within their own universe. I can't speak to the other law and orders as I haven't seen them.

It is copaganda but they're trying their best. SVU in particular seems pretty self aware that it's pretty much fantasy at this point.

I waste my time on a website I found years ago on r/beermoney that pays pennies for installing and playing shitty games. Most of them are the garbage match 3 or dominoes or whatever. I figured out most of them still pay out even with my ad blocker on so I just dissociate with that instead of doom scrolling sometimes.

It's not the greatest thing ever and I know it's bad for privacy and capitalism and for many other reasons, but I've made like $600 on it in the last 3 years so that's been cool.

In Canada we have a machine at customs that takes your picture when you come into the country. This isn't optional. I take the opportunity to make the absolute most ridiculous face I can every time and it brings me copious amount of joy. It then prints out a little slip that I give to the customs person at the gate who is usually chatting and doesn't even look at it. I imagine those slips go somewhere, though I couldn't really care less where.
