  • I understand your point, but colonization never stopped. We've been watching it in North American countries through reserves/reservations, residential schools, the continuing child welfare system. Our entire political systems are set up to uphold the ongoing colonization. Israel is just being a lot more obvious about it.

  • Yeah I grew up without a kettle and just lived with shitty badly heated water. Got myself a kettle after moving out and improved my tea experience greatly.

I got my parents a kettle though because my mom, especially, drinks about 10 cups of hot water a day, but she hates the kettle and won't use it. I do not understand.

  • Microwave can take 2-3 minutes depending on how hot you like it and how shitty your microwave is. They also tend to not heat evenly.

A good kettle might also take about 3 mins, though some can take up to 5 or 6, but you're guaranteed properly heated water.

  • I'm curious if anybody knows here since Lemmy is full of privacy and tech whizzes. If someone were to travel for work and had to take their work device and that person worked for the government or other equally classified entity, would the border patrol still be able to review all that? What about like medical records covered under PIPEDA/HIPAA?

The article simply says "yes they can search your electronics" but wouldn't gov classified info be covered more securely under some other law?

I'm not going down there, just a thought that came up reading the article.

  • Although I think a death threat through post is much more threatening than online. It's easy to find an email or even phone number online, a little harder to find someone's home address, and shows that the person might be more serious about it.

So while the amount of death threats may have risen, I'm not sure if the amount of credible death threats has changed as much.

  • I was gonna post this one! I cannot stress the amount of time it has saved me in life. Also great combo with the clipboard history enabled so you can take a bunch of screenshots at once, then paste them elsewhere later. Great for doing user instructions.

  • I’m getting sick of the people on this app being 50yr racist and self centered manager/ceo.. that I have to contact :)

Boy do I have some bad news about the workforce for you...

In all seriousness, I'm not sure about your field specifically but most companies will have a 'career' section on their website. You can usually browse jobs/apply through there.

There are also job opportunity aggregators like Indeed, Monster (is monster still a thing?), probably other alternatives in your country.

Your school/teachers might also be able to help you network and get in contact with companies, especially if you make a good impression.

    Good luck!

  • Most of the people I know that are still going down there tend to be wealthier. I think it's something about them thinking the money will protect them?

I have a canadian-salvadoran coworker who just went down there to visit family, like are you fucking insane.
