  • The only notable thing about Bazzite is that it's built on top of Fedora Atomic, making it immutable like SteamOS.

Without that, it's just a regular old distro with some opinions about which software should be preinstalled.

  • Throwing a tantrum isn't how to get what you want. This is a common behavior in the OSS world from wannabe BDFLs. Linus Torvalds or Guido van Rossum earned that title through merit, not through the simple luck of your side project going viral.

Bazzite is just Fedora Atomic with some extra preinstalled software. If it dies, it'll hurt the community of Linux gamers who picked it for whatever reason, but it won't make Fedora maintain 32 bit packages forever.

  • What does game preservation have to do with right to repair? I support both, but if people don't care about preserving games, latching it onto the right to repair movement is just going to drag it down for no reason.

  • Tbh it's not as bad as I was expecting. Those clips could definitely have resulted in an accident, but the system seems to actually work most of the time. I wonder if it couldn't be augmented with lidar at this point to make it more reliable? A live stress test is ridiculously irresponsible and will definitely kill people, but at least it's only Texans at risk (for now).

I was skeptical of the idea of robotaxis, but this kind of sold me on it. If they're cheaper than human drivers, I might even be able to get rid of my car some day. It doesn't change the fact that I'll never get into one because the CEO is a nazi though.

  • The only movie that legit made me cry was Seven Pounds with Will Smith. I only saw it once, and I tried real goddamn hard to suppress the tears, but a few leaked out. Luckily, none of the people I watched it with noticed, so my masculinity remained in-tact.

I’m asking as I’m trying to understand empathy and whether it’s normal to get so invested in fake characters,

Fuck yeah it is. It's a beautiful thing to be so moved by something that it brings you to tears (especially art). It's what makes us human: we're not just mindless beasts trying to eat and fuck, we're experiencing life to its fullest.

  • The problem is education. People know how to use Windows/Microsoft products, and are too lazy to learn anything else. Saying "that other thing sucks" is easier than admitting "Idk how to use that other thing, and I'm too lazy to learn", especially in a corporate environment where you can't climb ladders by acknowledging your own shortcomings.

Get LibreOffice/Nextcloud/etc into schools, and the problem will be solved in a single generation.

  • I have a new theory: Elon Musk is a habitual masturbator. He's addicted to the fap, and is ashamed of it. His ketamine-flooded brain, in an attempt to square it with his inflated ego, came up with the nonsense theory that he has a duty to reproduce as much as possible by donating his sperm to gold digging women instead of his own protruding belly button. That's probably why he tried to keep it a secret, because it's something he's ashamed of.
