I mean there are non-magic ways to secure a phone line or conversation. Cell phone calls are already encrypted, which doesn't help you if the cell company is 'in on it', but you can use a secure messaging app like signal to encrypt texts or calls., provided both people are using it. But lots of media acknowledges the danger of using your own device, and even goes so far as to depict characters theowing away their phone or smashing the sim card. Using a burner phone is not entirely secure but is pretty reliable since you basically become a needle in a haystack of millions of people. Somebody else mentioned person of interest though, and thats a great show that takes the premise that an ai system is eatching and aware of every communication that happens digitally, as well as all camera feeds that are hooked up to a network.

I mean both are the problem, obviously. And they're both symptoms of tne larger problem, which is late stage capitalism slowly sucking every last drop of labor value out of everyone. Game companies are making more profits than they did 30 years ago, so you can't tell me they 'need' to raise prices. And their CEO salaries are higher than ever, and developer salaries have not risen accordingly to justify the price increase. If a game company said 'we're raising our prices from 60 to 90 dollars, but we're also giving every employee a 1/3 salary increase' people might not be happy still but it would be a different conversation. But why should people who are struggling have to pay more for nothing except an increase in 'shareholder value' and the c-suites salary package? Thats fucked.

Not sure what exactly you mean by that, whether you mean the cameras are elder abuse, or whether they're to uncover elder abuse. But as a partner to someone who worked in long term care facilities, I'd say that although putting a camera in your loved ones room seems incredibly dystopian, the bigger concern is definitely monitoring the treatment of your loved one. Even in canada with our healthcare system, the long term care homes are disturbing. More and more of them are being bought out by private companies who understaff them to the point of criminal neglect. And when the staff are so extremely overworked and underpaid, then it begins to attract a disturbing element. I would be extremely wary of placing anyone in one of these homes, which is totally fucked because there isnt really an alternative in many cases. My partner used to work on a floor with 22 patients, and it was just one psw per floor, and one nurse for four floors most nights. People would go days without being showered, brushing their teeth or hair, without being changed if they had an accident, because there wasnt physically enough time to care for everyone. And thats someone who cared and was emotionally affected enough that they ended up leaving the field altogether. Not even taking into account the possibility that these jobs and conditions, with their lack of care and oversight can atteact significantly more sadistic personalities.

When is the last time you heard of someone getting intentionally poisoned by a delivery driver? Id be surprised if its happened. Let alone happened in a targeted attack because the person is 'famous'. Also most streamers are orders of magnitude away from being as famous as their fans seem to think they are. Ive had way more problems getting things to work or with things just breaking for no reason with windows than i have with linux. People are so disingenuous with their 'windows just works' bullshit. Windows is a steaming hot pile of garbage that loves to fuck with you in completely irrational ways, while at least linux is predictable.

Which was a deception in the first place, because it clearly distinguishes between '1 player' where it doesn't say anything about needing a network connection, and 2-8 player where it says network and playstation plus required. It also says network features can be removed at any time, but nowhere does it say 1 player is a network feature. It specifically does not say that.

How does reddit implement this? Afaik famous peoples accounts were known only by reputation and if they posted some form of image verification publicly, but there wasnt any identity verification going on on reddits end. Thats how it used to be everywhere, and how it probably should still be. If you saw an account claiming to be someone, you didn't believe it was actually them unless you could check it out and verify their identity in some way.

The steam deck has way more potential, but CAN be just as simplr as only ever launching and downloading games through gaming mode. The parent downloads 5stean deck verified games and then all the kid has to do is use the joystick to switch between them. But then it also has the potential to be a learning experience or teaching tool as the kid grows. But the steamos gaming mode is dead simple to navigate and a child could definitely use it.

Idiots who have never used a steam deck and are obviously scared by the word linux in this thread. You can easily use the steamdeck without ever leaving gaming mode and with absolutely no troubleshooting needed. Its as simple as browsing steam, pressing download, and pressing play. I would absolutely give it to a child with a few games preloaded, and they would be perfectly fine to use it. The UI is way more friendly than the switch one also. Everytime ive tried to play a game on switch with friends theres been some update that takes ages, the Ui is slow and clunky, and connecting joycons is an absolute pain. What troubleshooting do you think is necessary to run a game from steam lmao?

Steam deck is definitely just as easy to use as the switch for playing and downloading basic games from the storefront. A 5 year old could absolutely use it easily with some games preloaded.

When i had my original xbox the player two was a 3rd party controller, player one was a better 3rd party controller, player 3 if we had it was a first party controller-s and player 4 was the OG fatass xbox controller. My first choice was the mad catz controller that cost me 25 bucks and still works great to this day.

I mean if i had never seen a hippo before i would argue that the artists depiction looks more realistic than the actual hippo does. Theyre freaky cartoonish looking things that don't really loon like any other animals, certainly not one of the most dangerous animals in existence.
