  • I just re-watched Signs yesterday after what could be over a decade ago. This time I went in with the perspective of the very popular fan-theory that the aliens were demons the entire time. It really enhanced the movie for me and helped me appreciate the Reverend’s story more. The main theme of the movie should be on his story of believing again after the passing of her wife. The illogical actions of what’s considered very advanced aliens detracted from that and the overall movie suffered from this criticism. The theory of them being demons helped to alleviate and even enhance the movie for me and I enjoyed it far more upon re-watch.

Just to be clear , I’m fairly sure Shyamalan’s intention wasn’t for them to be demons as there are a lot of inconsistencies for that to be true. But if you can look past those issues, the movie becomes far more enjoyable with its theme of faith.

    Fan theory for reference

  • I'm loving it here but yeah hope there's a bit more engagement. I think the main thing people need to focus on is building up the more common communities. From there we can slowly branch out as more people join. If we spread out too thin we're just going to get graveyard communities.

As we grow we can focus on expanding and getting more of those niche communities going .

  • I really enjoyed Control. Just finished it the main story and AWE dlc recently. Gotta go through the foundation one now.

I loved both! I think I enjoyed Alan Wake more when I was playing it back on the 360. But looking back now I think Control is definitely the better game.AW just holds a special place with me as It was so unique for its time.

  • Still need to finish the Foundation DLC for Control! I really enjoyed the AWE dlc but wish I didn’t know Alan Wake 2 was being released before I played it. By the way what did you think of the Alan Wale dlc? The gameplay mechanics were getting a little tiresome.

  • Very excited for this. This was one of my favorite games on 360 when it came out. Just recently played the remastered and felt it was a bit repetitive. Hope they’re able to get some variation going with the combat for the sequel.

I still need to go through the DLC. Has anyone gone through them?

  • The Halo Trilogy I truly believe is the best video game music. The original from CE instantly became iconic and felt pivotal to the game. Then each iteration tweaked the formula in a way that represented the respective game. The heavy rock Breaking Benjamin style from Halo 2 represents the rebellious nature of the story (and honestly it represented gaming culture at the time). Then the music really matured with a heavy piano theme for Halo 3. The score made you feel the sacrifice of the characters and us saying goodbye to a brilliant story.

    Some great tracks:

  • I have the Rog Ally and I love it but there are some issues with this. I’m digging how this looks and the detachable controllers are really dope. I might just return mine and wait for this. Windows really needs to find a big picture mode to work. At least the Xbox App.

  • Yeah that would be great. I think both ideas if implemented would be excellen. Both types of media in one comm dilutes what people may want to talk about. Maybe its because communities are smaller here so they don't want each individual community to feel like there's a dearth of content. I'm also subscribed to the movies community in lemmy.world and lemmy.ml as well but this definitely has the most activity.

  • It feels like the same Reddit crowd from when I was in college (2011). So I’m guessing we skew towards millennials, early Gen Z folks. Definitely more tech oriented than other platforms that’s for sure. Also just as liberal as Reddit. There is a much larger focus on privacy here as well.

  • The Northman. Seeing Eggers with a huge budget was a sight to behold. Incredible cinematography and great performances from Skarsgard, Kidman, Claes, Defoe (man there’s so many to name). I love seeing Norse culture and mythology as well (play Hellblade if you ever get the chance).

I’m not sure if it’s considered an “original” considering it’s an adaptation of the classic The Lion King.
