  • The biggest upside to my Lemmy experience, so far, has been that you can stay within you communities, and actually have a decent conversation about the topics being posted. On reddit, it's consistently been the exact opposite of that.

    I get that not everyone is this way, but there are a lot of really, really frustrated people. Every comment ends up being either ragebait, an argument, or is neither, but still gets downvoted into fuck all, because people cannot differentiate a different opinion, from an incorrect one

  • Because you can make every kind of excuse, when it comes to privately owner corporations, but you quickly run out of them, when improving public systems.

    We've already seen it countless times, how the American government gives money to someone, to complete a project, but completely ignores any binding contracts, so all that money literally just goes into someone's pocket instead

  • Misinformation can spread like wildfire, especially in an environment, when people take someone's statements as fact, instead of evaluating anything themselves. Very easy to echo bad takes

  • I'm okay with paying 30% where the return on investment is worth it. Both the Appstore and Google Play do literally nothing for you, except distribution, and payment processing. These really don't deserve to take such a big cut, and I don't really want to hear any more excuses in their favor

  • Run eos-welcome, and choose the options to update both Arch and Endeavour mirrors. Save the files when prompted. For Arch mirrors, either choose countries closest to you, or just sort by fastest in general

  • On Windows, a lot of motherboard vendors would ship their own update utility, however the issue is that in 9 out of 10 cases, that utility would also install some useless garbage on the side, and hog the resources, while not really doing anything. In other cases, Windows itself can provide you with updates, for the devices it recognizes
