  • Lemmy loses it's mind over Elon.

"Working from home can reduce emissions by 50%" cool, we can use our cars less!

Elon "People working from home hurts our car sales cause they don't need a car." Fucking idiot and their stupid cars.

Not to mention the demographic working from home is the demographic buying his cars. Don't be blinded by fanatical hatred, be specific where you direct your vitriol.

  • I have a Tesla model 3, it is very cheap to operate but expensive to buy. The only negative thing about it is public/political perception of the car.

People on the left hate Elon, tech people think a car can't drive itself without a weapons grade sensor array, and people on the right hate using electricity for propulsion, car people are threatened by electric car's acceleration, or that the battery is going to die and I'll need to get a new car.

Without all of that, owning one is super cool.

  • Their built in apps, the red cable stuff, the multi-press screenshot gesture that I can't disable.

The phone is still crazy fast for it's age, but I wanted a no-compromise camera, and 5g, wireless charging, the call screening stuff.

Basically it's just time for an upgrade.

  • You can't turn off their multi-press screenshot thing, and they install their apps and un-disable them, trying to figure out which messages or contacts app is the right one is annoying.

Don't get me wrong, the phone is still impressively fast, but some of the newer tech, specifically camera, 5g, wireless charging, and the call screening style stuff is what I'm after.

  • Pre-ordered a Pixel 8 Pro with the watch. I've had this OnePlus 7 Pro since it launched and I want the new features and a really fucking good camera. I'd also like to get away from OnePlus' bullshit, but all in all it's been a fantastic phone. Still very fast.
