It’s been unfortunate that he hasn’t been in many battles so far this season, but as long as he’s in the podium race, those battles will come on their own, and we’ll see more of him on TV. I don’t think anybody disagrees that he’s a good driver, the TV feed just mainly tries to find battles for position - as it should.
If I were in his position, Red Bull would be a nonstarter unless they stop developing the car for Max - which isn’t going to happen. McLaren has a long history of letting their drivers race. At McLaren, he’s an equal; at RB, it would be an uphill battle against a multi-WC winner.
The US may not have military parades in a traditional sense, but they absolutely have something similar: at just about any outdoor sporting event from the college level to pro, there’s some sort of military “thing.” Whether it be a fly-over, funded by the Pentagon, or a color guard there for the national anthem. Also, at NASCAR races, the Army either used to or still does sponsor a car. Those are the examples I can think of off the top of my head. It’s not. North Korea or USSR by any means, but it’s kind of always there.
They haven’t exactly been kind to him thus far. And I know there’s the whole “how do they enforce their ruling” thing, but there are ways they can. Unfortunately, those aren’t levers you want to be quick to pull. I think they’ll ultimately have to be used, but it’s going to take some time.
Guys, they’re not going to be batting 1000…. On anything. They’re going to be breaking A. LOT. of eggs, whilst not even trying to bat anywhere near 1000. That will be them doing their “best.”
The follow-on effect to all the headlines of what’s being cut is going to decimate some pretty important corners of the US economy. We’re all watching a country die here.
This really is the answer. The more services you add, the more of your attention they will require. Granted, for most services already integrated into the distro’s repo, the added admin overhead will likely be minimal, but it can add up. That’s not to say the admin overhead can’t be addressed. That’s why scripting and crons, among some other utilities, exist!
Hence the question! I mean I feel like he had a certain relevance in his prime. Every now and then he pops up shilling for some crazy right-wing cause... or as a Sheriff's Deputy. Similar to Dr. Phil going out on ICE raids.
I’ve never understood the notion the good “can’t exist” without evil. I think it’s more likely that good can’t be recognized without evil as a basis for comparison. That doesn’t mean good things can’t happen unless there’s evil out there. I think they would just be seen from a different frame of reference.
I don’t, and I use it all the time. That said, I try to be mindful of context. For example, if I’m going to a party and someone texts saying to grab ice or something: 👍
Conversely, if someone is texting to say their dog died, or congratularions of a big achievement: !👍
Y’all, it would make me ecstatic to be completely wrong with this hot take. I guess it’s a combination of my lack of faith in the citizenship to give enough of a shit, and my lack of faith in our government to listen.
I can’t think of a more “American” thing than enlisting immigrants to make your fledgling country “great,” only to turn around and villainize them in an effort to make it great “again.”
