  • As I’ve been watching Diddy and Beand go down, I’ve been thinking to myself, “Damn, and I really like that movie!” I just need to remember to say “scandals noted” when watching this or Forgetting Sarah Silverman in the future.

  • Sounds like there’s an unofficial support group for Red Bull second drivers. That kind of says everything we already knew about the position.

While I do like seeing the community amongst the drivers, I do miss some of the heated rivalries of the past.

  • Another IT person here. Same answer as was already stated. I self-host the stuff I have to meet my requirements. I don’t need a Lemmy instance. If world goes away, I’ll set up somewhere else and continue with my life.

So 9-5, and often way more than that, is spent computering for money. Free time needs to have as little “have to do” computering as possible.

  • Before deleting most of my Reddit stuff, I had a good conversation with a conservative about climate change. They pulled out all the standard right wing talking points, and I tried to remain respectful as I provided sources that refuted every one. One they threw out that I hadn’t heard of at the time was “global wobbling,” which I had to look up. 10- minutes later, I responded, with sources, saying that it was yet another thing the right throws out to confuse the issue for voters, but something climate scientists are well aware of and can measure and predict. At that point, they thanked me for all the info and said they had some reading to do. That’s the best I’ve ever gotten. Don’t know if they changed their view, though.

  • Like I said, I’d be surprised to see him leave. I would add that he’s not going anywhere he’s not going to be the clear #1, which rules out pretty much all the other front runners. Aston has Newey and a lot of money and a CLEAR #2 who isn’t going anywhere soon. It’s yet to be seen how much Audi is going to pour in next year, but they would probably make room for a guy like Max. If he left RB, and it’s very unlikely he would, I think those are the two best options. Possibly with Alpine as a very dark horse (I’d be more surprised to see him go there than I’d be if he left RB! But, Flavio…).

  • TBH, the point you made about Newey is why I tossed out Aston as an option. If they can get the car sorted, it would be a perfect place for him, especially given that the team boss doesn’t really care how good or bad the second driver is.

  • While it’s obviously not impossible, I’d be surprised if he left. I could see him replacing Fernando at Aston Martin, or possibly Audi building their team around him. But right now, it seems like 90% of Red Bull is geared towards him, and they’re still competitive. Why leave that?
