Suspected 4chan Hack Could Expose Longtime, Anonymous Admins

  • The average for every single Lemmy instance was 8.208262964 comments per post.

I wonder how much that statistic would change if you exclude news or politics communities.

  • "Conflicting political views" doesn't necessarily mean "fascist". I don't understand why this topic always causes such misunderstandings. This is something I also noticed when I made a thread on the Fediverse community asking about possible advantages or disadvantages about the mostly limited range of views on Lemmy. Some users replied in a similar fashion. Maybe it's just a deliberate exaggeration, i don't know.

  • Also I think the group should align politically

I think it's best if people get along well with each other despite possible conflicting political views.

  • As far as I can see Lemmy supports hidden communities

I don't think that's the case. Here at feddit.nl (version 0.19.10, latest) I can set the visibility of a community only to "Public" and "Local Only", too. There seems to be an option for instance admins to hide certain communities from all, though.

  • Why do you restrict it to OC (base) images only? I wouldn't have a problem with non-OC images (if the source is also provided).

Another fun idea for such a community would be to include the genre/style of the fictional music album based on the imaginary album art.

  • sh.itjust.work - shit in the name, not appealing to the average user

I really don't understand how this is actually a problem. It's just "shit", that's very moderate profanity.

  • I would also snitch on a murderer tbh.

  • I don't see the relation to skin color.

"Managing editor Wyatt Reed, contributor Mohamed Elmaazi and regular freelancer Jeremy Loffredo worked for Russian state media before contributing to website."

"Grayzone staff Blumenthal and Aaron Maté acted as briefers on behalf of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations at UN meetings organized by Russia."

  • The "Pepe the Frog" meme and Swastikas were the most common extremist or hateful symbols on Steam, representing almost 55% and 9% of all extremist symbols detected, respectively.

Some symbols, like the sonnenrad and Totenkopf, are explicitly extremist, while others, like Pepe, are often used by extremists, but their use alone does not signal extremist ideologies.

So Pepe is a "extremist or hateful symbol", but its "use alone does not signal extremist ideologies". I'm confused.

  • It would have been cool to involve the community by doing some kind of art contest. (Not saying I would participate, I just like the idea.)

  • If you don't have a problem with sharing your listening data:

    • Last.fm (for example, check "similar to" section of artist pages or "similar albums" of album pages)
    • ListenBrainz, a free and open source alternative to Last.fm (for example, Music Neighbourhood, ListenBrainz Radio, or the "Created for you" playlists (they have been criticised by people for having too little variety, but according to the devs this will increase as more people use the service))

Or you can just ask people for recommendations.

  • It usually updates daily though. Check the burger menu at the top right. It shows you when the data was last updated. The README of the github page also says that "publish-pages" is failing, whatever that is.
