I disable queuing and just have a bandwidth cap on my torrent client. Technically, I'm seeding thousands of torrents and don't have any issue.

Occasionally when I go to clean up some torrents (like when migrating servers) I purge based on most seeders first and never kill anything below 3 seeds.

If I can get it later, personally I don't back it up. I have lost 100tb of media before and since then I've redownloaded most of it. For that stuff, if I forget about it then it wasn't important. When I care about it, I'll remember and just go get it then.

I run an older half depth supermicro server with a sfp+ PCI card for my router. At this point, it feels like dedicated boxes just aren't worth it for routers except for enterprise where I need a support contract.

That's not entirely true. Having a router with multiple interfaces is useful for multiple physical networks like VoIP, OOB, dmz, etc. We use vlans a lot for that now, but it's not fair to say only two ports is the only choice.
