  • It certainly helps against plainclothes people and hiding their face. You don't know who is an actual officer and who isn't.

I do remember that event for BLM. The police were using paint balls or bb guns for their "riot control" after there was a curfew.

This needs the full on force of armed citizen watchdog groups who escort ICE and hold them off. A whole community that is armed and saying "no, this is my neighbor and you cannot take him." Is going to be the way to stop ICE.

I would love to see the "police free zone" that Portland had during the BLM protests get recreated as "ICE free zones."

  • The supermajority would prevent one party from forcing it, at least how current elections are run.

As it is both the house and Senate tried to push through a resolution to cancel this "economic emergency" but I haven't heard much progress on it in the last week or so.

This basically reverses the current model where they have to vote to end the emergency and makes it so they have to vote to affirm it.

  • Congress needs to pass a law requiring that any national emergency needs to be confirmed by a super majority of both the house and Senate within 15 calendar days of declaration. Or from 15 days of the passage of this law, whichever is later. An ongoing national emergency must be renewed by Congress before the sixth month of its declaration, but no earlier than it's fifth month. Then on a yearly basis starting from the anniversary of its declaration.

Failing that, all emergency powers the president wields are revoked.

In a true emergency, the assemblage of Congress is not an onerous task. Nor is the vote.

It would take enough Republicans to overrule the presidential veto. But if done would get rid of this regimes use of the magic word "emergency."

  • I think there may be some mechanisms. They can deputize citizens to carry out their rulings. It would be bloody though.

I'd also like to see them freeze any finances the administration has access to. Or individuals in the administration.

  • Residential IPs are generally gray listed. Same with any cloud provider IP pools. You can get a mail relay for sending email if you want an easy way. Or find a local colo who has their own IP block where you can host a small server. It might take a little time to warm up and build that reputation, but not impossible.

  • I was looking at states guard and wondering if blue states should be bolstering up their organized armed militias. State guard, as opposed to national guard, cannot be called upon by the federal government and are solely under the direction of the state governors.

One big downside, is many of the state guardsman are members of the national guard as well, as being in the state guard does not preclude you from the national military. There seems to be a lot of training from the national guard to the state guard.
