  • This + I like to just give people answers. I find too often online somebody will ask a question and a lot of users will often try to be helpful but fail because they didn't actually answer it.

Dumb example Q: "What's the best Indian food in this city?" A: "There's not a whole lot of Indian food but you might have luck with a burgeoning southeast Asian store"

  • Stretch and do some light exercise right before you leave for work just to get the blood flowing. Take regular breaks just to stretch as well, and make sure to use as much of your breaks as possible off your feet. I've worked a few of these jobs and the worst thing you can do to yourself is ignore your breaks or even taking your breaks but not sitting down.

Make sure to get good sleep before your shifts and go to bed at a reasonable time. At the risk of accidentally sounding pro-capitalist here when I'm not trying, human bodies are actually uncommonly great at exercising and being on our feet for extended periods of time, so you should get used to it eventually. The first few weeks are definitely not going to be fun though.

  • Yeah my last place I lived didn't have one and it was such a chore. My new place has one and it's really nice but it still sucks with how long it takes. I haven't timed it but it's like 2 hours even on the quick option

  • And with laundry machines there's never a standard. Like dishwashers always work generally the same and most brands will clean about the same. For laundry it's all across the board. The side loaders never clean or dry as good as the top loaders. Some brands take longer than others, or have different options.

Plus I hate that with clothes every type of fabric has a different type of cleaning too and not all laundry machines have those options. Like oh I need this thing washed on cold water on a hand-dry equivalent setting but my machine doesn't have that for cold water and only does it on hot water. Stuff like that. And I hate that even combination washer/dryers never seem to operate at the same time. The dryer always takes longer or the washer might take longer because of different settings. I'd honestly love if they both took like 90 minutes just because it would mean I can do a few loads in quick succession, rather than letting the wash sit there while the dry conitinues for 45 more minutes.

edit: Like if I want to do the dishes, there are some dishes I might need to hand dry but I think all "normal" dishes just go in there and you just turn it on and let it run. I never need any special settings and I don't need to transfer to another machine because my dishwasher does some drying.

  • You know what? I'm not gonna respect somebody who calls me a dumbass and asks what's wrong with me over a fucking internet discussion. You can go fuck yourself. I'm just not pursuing anything further when somebody resorts to insults and rage-baiting when somebody dares go against their personal narrative. Think that you're smarter than everybody else if you want, that just means you'll get more people like me refusing to engage with you.

  • This is proof that you only watch mainstream media and think you know everything

The person you replied to made no such claims and even no implications in their comment. Your ego-maniacal idea that people cannot have differing opinions on things and that they must be less intelligent than you is borderline concerning. You need help.

  • I definitely recommend revisiting this post about 12 hrs later. It's kind of wild in here. Saw a comment with 19 upvotes referring to children as "cum pets."

  • I'm taller than average so it already sucks but last year I had three flights IN A ROW where I got placed behind somebody who was obsessed with leaning back in their seat. Like they'd lean back as much as the seat would let them which was already painful but then they'd try and push it more and more and jump back into the seat which was only hurting my knees more. One was 6 hours and I literally could not sleep 1 second because of the pain. three DIFFERENT people did this! Noise cancelling headphones did not help.

  • Yeah and the shitty part is if you let things get chaotic it can end up unhygienic. So it ends up not even being just an "aesthetic" thing and moreso a survival thing. Mildew, mold, bacteria, etc. can really fuck you up

  • 50% of the entire world has lower than average intelligence

that's the median which doesn't always equate the average.

  • He used to be one of the most successful tech help youtubers (had whole series on how to fix computer issues and build PC's) and now he runs a company that reviews, tests, and fucks around with tech.

Lemmy is filled with tech enthusiasts. How many people have you met on here that profess they're a "senior dev" or talk about gibberish involving linux? I'm personally surprised there isn't more talk about Linus.

  • Not everybody is a member of the biopharma fandom

  • Love the way it looks. It's peak late 90s but I think it would be cool if apple revisited that style in some of their newer tech
