  • That's such a weird take. I mean you're right, that is exactly the argument, but it doesn't hold any water. To defend against Hamas attacks, Israel would need a huge border fence (check), a vastly superior military (check), constant surveillance on Gaza (check), Iron Dome (check), and even morally questionable methods like full control over the Palestinian population registry to track criminals (check). The fact that they had all those and still failed self-defense just adds to the argument that killing tens of thousands of civilians and destroying the majority of civilian infrastructure (while making the vast majority unusable) and completely debilitating the medical infrastructure and blocking humanitarian aid (also via criminal methods) and

Killing members of the group; (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part

    is actually genocide.

  • Thanks. What is the built-in NLP for Lineage OS? Maybe I'm not using the right keywords but I couldn't find out via search.

  • Where do the $10 billion AMZN bucks go? Do any at all go to MS public coffers? The construction will be done by provate companies, components bought from private companies. How about electricity and water? Do those costs go to publicly owned infrastructure? What about the land, surely it's leased but is it owned by the state of MS? If it's just a $10 billion expenditure from Amazon to other corporations and hedge funds it's pretty worthless to the general public, and giving corporate welfare instead of cOMpEtiNG iN ThE fReE MArkET makes it actively harmful to the public good. How many people with potentially groundbreaking ideas will continue to be wage slaves because their state has no grant money to help them start a business? How many children will continue the cycle of poverty (working for Amazon in this case, probably) because their municipality doesn't have fully staffed schools to help them learn to think critically and guide them to scholarships etc.?

    AMZN is up 2.8% today.

  • Yea, I feel you. My whole economy has changed since I adopted "reduce, refuse, and repair". I spend much less on clothes but much more on food (usually straight from the farm/mill), much less on tech/appliances, and nothing at all on things I don't need. It's changed the world for me. Big, long lasting purchases are good to get new. Same with safety gear- I buy a brand new bike helmet every 3 years, for example. The bike itself is 25 years old or so already lol.

  • It takes an Olympic level of mental gymnastics to pretend Israel has any morality at this point. Still, they say in the article twice that it was against protocol, stemmed from miscommunication, and was a mistake, but it is 100% consistent with Israeli behaviour of late.

What about the 40 beheaded babies story, or Israeli friendly fire on Oct 7, or the 3 Israeli hostages killed by the IDF while they were waving a white flag and shouting in Hebrew, the 7 journalists targeted and killed in Lebanon (or any of the 60-something journalists killed by the IDF since last October), or the >100,000 Palestinian casualties?

There have been a lot of investigations promised and none delivered. On the other hand, when Israel accused UNRWA workers of being Hamas without a shred of evidence, those workers were fired immediately and many countries cut funding to UNRWA. It's extremely messed up but fits with the pattern of Israel wiping out Palestinians, including by making sure that international aid does not interfere with their ethnic cleansing campaign. Not only do aid workers literally get killed (or just fired if they're "lucky") but it creates a chilling effect for any organization that wants to provide food or medical aid to a population on the brink of mass starvation and death. That's terrorism.

  • Isn't it? And it has been going on since long before you and me heard about it. The best we can do for justice is to just spread truths like this, because the only reason injustices like that find so much success is that they are hidden and done in secret.

  • Israel is really against free speech. This law might in the future be used to make BDS a hate crime or some equally perverse analogy like that. Israel will gladly throw away other people's rights for their own benefit (not least their neighbors' rights), and they are completely throwing Jews in general under the bus, as it has been from the beginning:

Herzl described [Jewish] opponents of the Zionism he was proposing as "Jewish vermin"

In fact, the more anti-semitism rises in the world, the more Jews will believe they should move to Israel, thus serving the Zionist agenda. Israel might throw America under the bus too, just to get their way.

The current struggle is not Israel vs. Palestine or Israel vs. Hamas but Israel vs. human rights and freedom, and we do have to pick a side.

I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.

  • Isn't this only Google Maps though?

  • Lmao. It might be a skill issue but I've noticed a special breed of coward that defends capitalism (while simultaneously being crushed by it) in the hopes that the master will give them a few crumbs somewhere down the line. Sometimes they even sacrifice their own brother for said promise of extra crumbs, it's disgusting.

  • I fucking hate Amazon, like, literally refuse to purchase anything from them. I'd rather pay 3 times the price then give Amazon a penny for literally anything.

    I like you, man.

Let me just plug here 2nd hand stores and just not buying stuff.
