  • Yes, that is a strange quote. It should read "AIPAC has has significant control over who is elected to the U.S. government".

  • Yes and do you know why we celebrate passover? Because God hardened the Pharaoh's heart to not let the Isrealites leave Egypt, so He could test these new weapons on Egyptian civilians (who had no power over the Pharaoh). They were plagues and now they're "battle tested". And

Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the slave girl, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well.

    Exodus 11:5

Like with Amalek, not even the cows could catch a break! Pretty violent tradition.

  • Thanks!

  • Israel has maintained effective control over Gaza since their military occupation ended almost 20 years ago, and they have really been making the Palestinians suffer.

Based on these considerations, some experts have found that “siege” better describes the situation.

However, the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights has said “the majority of international opinion” holds that Israel maintains effective control, even without armed forces present. While legal experts acknowledge that the lack of a military presence does not follow the “traditional approach” to analyzing effective control, they find that military presence is an “evidentiary test only.” They point to authorities such as the Israeli High Court, which have held that occupation status hinges on the exercise of effective control. They, therefore, find that technology has made it possible for Israel to use ongoing force to exercise effective control—imposing authority and preventing local authorities from exercising control—without a military presence.

Specifically, experts from the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory found “noting” positions held by the UN Security Council, UNGA, a 2014 declaration adopted by the Conference of High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, the ICRC, and “positions of previous commissions of inquiry,” that Israel has “control exercised over, inter alia, [Gaza’s] airspace and territorial waters, land crossings at the borders, supply of civilian infrastructure, including water and electricity, and key governmental functions such as the management of the Palestinian population registry.” They also point to “other forms of force, such as military incursions and firing missiles.”

  • Israel did not participate in the dialogue but issued a press release stating that it “utterly rejects” Ms. Albanese’s report, calling it “an obscene inversion of reality”.

“The very attempt to level the charge of genocide against Israel is an outrageous distortion of the Genocide Convention. It is an attempt to empty the word genocide of its unique force and special meaning; and turn the Convention itself into a tool of terrorists, who have total disdain for life and for the law, against those trying to defend against them,” the release said.

Israel said its war is against Hamas, not Palestinian civilians.

“This is a matter of explicit government policy, military directives and procedures. It is no less an expression of Israel’s core values. As stated, our commitment to uphold the law, including our obligations under international humanitarian law, is unwavering.”

Yes my brother, one party is involved in an obscene inversion of reality and it's the one that says that Israel's commitment to uphold the law, including obligations under international humanitarian law, is unwavering. Along with horrible atrocities in Gaza they have been speed-running colonizing the West Bank in recent months.

Why doesn't Israel just say "yes we are stealing the rest of Palestine now, fuck off" instead of pretending to be the polite (albeit clumsy with the munitions), law-abiding member of the world community, involved in a slight kerfuffle with their neighbor? I mean, they are getting away with it anyway (thanks to U.S. and GER support)... why lie?

I'm not looking forward to how this phase of the ethnic cleansing will be recalled in the future- "The Arabs realized this was a Jewish nation and left willingly, but smashed the TV on the way out".

At least Ms. Albanese touched on the historic depth of this tragedy. That's often purposefully omitted.

Furthermore, “the genocide in Gaza is the most extreme stage of a long-standing settler colonial process of erasure of the native Palestinians,” she continued.

“For over 76 years, this process has oppressed the Palestinians as a people in every way imaginable, crushing their inalienable right to self-determination demographically, economically, territorially, culturally and politically.”

She said the “colonial amnesia of the West has condoned Israel's colonial settler project”, adding that “the world now sees the bitter fruit of the impunity afforded to Israel. This was a tragedy foretold.”

  • I appreciate your effort and patience.

  • Can you explain the tweet for me? First of all it implies that being poor or minority generates more stress than being rich or part of the majority, but then what about the molecular level?

  • I think a lot of people just think they will steal Palestine and then be satisfied, forgetting that greed, arrogance, and lebensraum know no bounds. Why would Israel want tons of fighter jets? It's not to wipe out a million starving Palestinians in Gaza, you don't need jets for that. And this should come as no surprise, since David Ben-Gurion said that the success of the 1948 U.N. partition plan of Palestine was part of a larger plan:

Zionist leaders, in particular David Ben-Gurion, viewed the acceptance of the plan as a tactical step and a stepping stone to future territorial expansion over all of Palestine.

and the early terrorist groups that established Israel and the IDF also expressly stated expansion was their aim:

Irgun emblem. The map shows both Mandatory Palestine and the Emirate of Transjordan, which the Irgun claimed in its entirety for a future Jewish state. The acronym "Etzel" is written above the map, and "raq kach" ("only thus") is written below.

Fun fact about the 1948 U.N. partition plan:

The Arab Higher Committee, the Arab League and other Arab leaders and governments rejected it on the basis that in addition to the Arabs forming a two-thirds majority, they owned a majority of the lands.[20][21] They also indicated an unwillingness to accept any form of territorial division,[22] arguing that it violated the principles of national self-determination in the UN Charter which granted people the right to decide their own destiny.

And Israel bribed, threatened, and offered loans (given by the U.S.) to countries to vote in favor of the partition plan, so anyone who supports Israel on the basis of justice or fairness really doesn't have a leg to stand on.

In that link, the section Reports of pressure against the Plan shows just how anti-semitic Zionism is.

  • What an anti-semitic law.

the promotion or advancement of an ideology based on violence, hatred or intolerance, that aims to: negate or destroy the fundamental rights and freedoms of others

This describes Zionism, and anti-Zionism is anti-semitism in some jurisdictions.

  • O waow the neoliberal is war mongering.... yawn

  • There's another kind of interesting point in this article and in Israel's history in general. It seems like every Israeli accusation is a confession- from mass sexual abuse to needing to defend themselves from invaders to

Israeli officials deny that their military campaign has been indiscriminate and say civilian casualties are the fault of Hamas for embedding its fighters among the population in Gaza.

When the Zionists started taking over Palestine in the early 1900s, they needed the cover and political legitimacy of regular people to disguise and obscure their terrorism, so the mass immigration of Jews to Palestine was a way for Zionists to embed their fighters among the Jewish population in Palestine. Then they could hide behind the shield of anti-semitism while they pursue their goal of expansion and ethnic cleansing.

Zionist leaders, in particular David Ben-Gurion, viewed the acceptance of the plan as a tactical step and a stepping stone to future territorial expansion over all of Palestine.

I really haven't found any accusation that Israel has made against Hamas that they are not themselves guilty of, but I would be happy to learn of some.

  • Check this guy's post history.

  • Bombs I understand. You need bombs to kill people and Israel has killed tens of thousands so they probably need more bombs to kill tens of thousands more (and of course why would they produce them themselves, or even buy them?). But planes? Did they lose some planes killing all those civilians? Or did a Hamas paraglider take out a couple fighter jets with his scimitar?

And to all the Americans that think they are the constituency of the U.S. government: fuck you.

Biden’s decision to continue the flow of weapons to Israel has been strongly supported by powerful pro-Israel interest groups in Washington, including the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which is spending tens of millions of dollars this election cycle to unseat Democrats it views as insufficiently pro-Israel.

  • We got to the "this entire community..." stage way faster than Reddit did.

  • I respect where you're coming from but you've got to remember that the lobby is on private property so you will get fucked to the full extent of the law.

  • We haven't even picked the low-hanging fruit of energy production yet.

What is the low-hanging fruit of energy production?

  • Yes and the U.S. was also literally like "why should we stop burning coal, the underdeveloped countries (esp China) will still be burning coal decades after we stop, it's not going to make a difference if we stop".

Turns out the real driving force was actually bribery ("lobbying") all along.

  • unfair trade barriers

Did they forget what globalization means? Globalization means that other countries open their economy completely to U.S. companies while the U.S. grants import quotas (at best) for other countries (as long as they behave nice).

And what does this actually mean:

“I will press my Chinese counterparts to take necessary steps to address this issue.”

"Let me win again Mom said it's my turn to win again."

  • There's also a typo in paragraph 4. This whole article must be false.
