only two-letter tlds are controlled by specific countries. i forget who owns the specific tld for .world but i doubt they can pull this trick, there's a lot of competition there
go for it! i have four (three 27" 1440p monitors on the main group and one 22" 1080p to the side for diagnostics and for wallpaper engine because i like my wallpapers too much and otherwise i'd just keep a monitor empty all the time) but i'm considering four more. like four small 1080p monitors mounted above the three main ones for docs, discord, whatever
i did think that but i stand corrected by @Jase@lemmy.world. seems like the founding fathers were actually based (at least on this topic) and it's just the people who like to speak for them who are corrupting this message.
that said though, there are a lot of calls for religious freedom nowadays that shape up like this: basically, "i should be able to practice my religion and i guess i'll endure yours because you're in power, but we're gonna do something about those unbelievers, right? ...right?"
i use chemical weapons against wasps because they don't deserve the geneva convention. those anti-wasp sprays are the shit, you can blow them out of the sky with them
lmao, so the church and state shouldn't be separated because the government is inefficient and its inefficiencies should remain to be inflicted upon the church?
that's... actually kinda based, lol. i do appreciate the objective and the unconventional method to achieve it. however, i think there's a difference between being a government entity and having control over governance. the latter should never be given to the church, because that's one hella fast way to surpass all the damage they have managed to do under the american system. for example, while your statements seem accurate for western europe and the nordics (emphasis on "seem", i don't live there) but over here in hungary the "christian democratic party" is literally the only party our government is in a coalition with, and they get to pass discriminatory laws basically as fast as they can come up with them. the closest analogy i can give is imagine if all the shit that's going on in those red states was going on country-wide with no one left to oppose it.
that's also what europe looked like before the "age of enlightenment", which is separation of church and state is so important in public consciousness, even if not technically implemented.
still, i do like your idea, and yes, inflicting bureaucracy upon the church would be helpful. maybe it's not a separation of church and state that we need, but protection of the state from the church's influence.
actually, do yeet the baby if you have an application with different needs. for example, if you want to play a game, you're better off yeeting 60 babies a second and just hope that whoever is on the side catches enough of them to get a smooth stream of babies, than making sure every baby is handed gently to the next person and get the whole line clogged up the moment anything disrupts it. if you just use the yeetomatic 3000 you're always getting fresh babies on the other end, a few might just be dropped in the process
i mean, good point on the project size, but buying a domain is honestly such a basic thing that it still feels like a weird result on that equation to me. for fmhy.ml, specifically, i understand their choice, since pirate sites do tend to be quite nomadic with their domains, and the fediverse being so domain-specific is a new thing.
still, domains are hella cheap. the $10/yr figure i quoted is for a "serious" one on one of the major tlds, you can get away with much less if you're willing to go for a somewhat more niche but still reputable one. especially one that's longer than two characters.
yeah, it seems what they meant is freedom to be a christian without the pope and absolutely nothing else. no nonbelievers, no non-abrahamics, hell, not even any abrahamic believers who believe in other religions. protestant, mormon, or cringe catholic, take your pick or go to literal hell.
and the best part is when they use the excuse of religious freedom as a shield for their bigotry. like i'm sorry, if your holy book literally calls for gays to be stoned to death that's a call to violence, it doesn't deserve to be protected or tolerated.
lmfao, frickin seriously? you're gonna build up an instance where the domain is part of all of your users' identities and you're not even gonna spend the $10/yr to keep that solid? with how much time goes into running a lemmy instance and not getting overrun by bots, that's an absolutely ridiculous assignment of resources

you can trademark things like this, but copyright only applies automatically to human authorship, so something that has less entropy than the average midjourney prompt (which is explicitly classified as "not authorship") is probably a safe bet to ignore. and i don't think a trademark would be granted here either, but idk what the uspto would have to say about this.
regardless, slapping a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 on it, which is what the original designer did, is a pretty good way to tell the corpos that this isn't your cash cow, fuck off. and if that's what they did, that's commendable, but i'm still a bit afraid because it very much up to the original creator in these situations and they can do damage to communities with shit like this if they decide to.
i'd recommend using edge there instead of chrome, because it's the same browser and google is legitimately less trustworthy than microsoft at this point. neither of these companies are the same that they were in the early 2000s, for better or worse
