  • For large-scale industrial production, yes. It is likely the original commenter is doing custom or fairly small-scale welding, which needs either a much more expensive welding robot, or lots of extra work reconfiguring a still very expensive one. For such applications it is both cheaper and faster to do by hand and likely will be for a long time, though how small scale the practical limit for having a robot will likely decrease over time.

  • Currently have been playing a fair amout Stormworks: Build and Rescue and the new Space dlc, unfortunately there are a fair amount of bugs but it's still quite fun.

The other game I am playing a lot of is Deep Rock Galactic

  • In-video sponsorships are almost certainly never going to be gone for every channel, and definitely not as a part of premium since those sponsorships are done voluntarily by creators. As another said, the sponsorblock extension works great, find creators that dont do sponsors, or just skip manually.

  • I doubt windows either has or wants to have that functionality, given their more business/general purpose oriented focus, also the steam deck runs on Linux.

A part of me wonders if it would be possible to put the Linux distro/is of a steam deck onto a dedicated gaming computer to get some of the optimisations from it like that.

  • Depends on the university but for mine in particular discord is the primary communication method for clubs, and also friends to a certain extent. I think discord is decent for privacy but I don't fully know, what I do is have my publicly visible profile be pretty anonymous and not tied to me.really at all, but then you can make server-specific profile names with your real name.

I'll admit I'm not the most privacy-oriented person, I try for a somewhat decent level of privacy (using Firefox+unlock, bitwarden, signal for family chat, a few other things) but also do have Snapchat for instance, which is one of the worse things I do. This does remind me tho that I should try and convince my roommates to use signal instead of SMS because they have iPhones and I'm android so it's kinda awful for anything but text

  • You're mostly right, but his particular thing actually is safe. The water they are releasing is very very slightly more radioactive than normal water, but it's so diluted it is harmless. As said by another commenter, if you only drank the water they are releasing you would have the equivalent extra radiation exposure as a flight across the US, or an x-ray or 2. And they are releasing it slowly into the entire ocean, it legitimately will be safe.

  • Oh has he talked about Lemmy? I watch some of this stuff sometimes, haven't seen that I don't think tho. I'm mostly herr because I didn't like what reddit was doing even though I used the official app the whole time

  • I doubt it, because the plastics would almost completely burn off, and while the concentration might increase I don't think it would ever be enough to leave behind substantial residue for quite some time. Plus most of the time ashed are kept in urns or distributed in places that already will have microplastics and other carcinogens
