Grew up in South Texas. Going to visit family in Missouri, we would start driving at 5 in the morning, only braking for food and bathrooms, and still have to stop for the night at the Arkansas border.

I wish TOS writers had kept leaning into hilariously absurd moment like that. It would have made the show better. It's part of what makes Star Gate and The Orville so lovable.

It's also why I was the only person I knew who actually liked Team Knight Rider. Because there would be random announcements over the home base intercom that would indiscriminately break whatever tension there was with a report of something stupid that just happened somewhere on the ship.

"Technicians, please report to the rec room. The jukebox is stuck on Moon River again."

"Fire control team, report to the kitchen... just in case." Or something to that effect.

Personally, I like the bit about Rogue One. Because Leia Organa is definitely the kind of person who would tell a bald-faced lie to a six-foot-tall cyborg known for killing innocent people on a whim if just to buy her insane, last-ditch, Hail Mary plan of giving top secret data to an R2 unit and sending it after a person she hasn't seen in over ten years who might be hiding who-knows-where on a desert planet a few more seconds.

There are a lot of problems with Disney Canon, Rogue One is not one of them.
