  • At no point did I say it wasn't ever important. I even said that it should be at the forefront.

What I did say is only focusing on it is myopic and naive. Trying to create some narrative where if you don't say it's the only thing you ever care about they're you're wholeheartedly against it is incredibly dangerous. It will backfire on you just like it backfires on the republicans.

  • It's definitely an important issue, and one Republicans have been distracting their base with for decades. But it's far from the only one.

If Democrats only have this one issue to hang their hat on... what incentive do they have to fix it? Then they're in the same boat a lot of Republicans are in now, they got what they wanted and have nothing else to rile their base with.

No one's saying it shouldn't be at the forefront... but it also shouldn't be the only thing. Bodily autonomy is great... but doesn't really matter as much when you can't afford to eat or house yourself.

  • I think you're buying into her attempt to soften the blow.

She starts off the statement by immediately linking protests with Putin, then follows it up by putting up a front as though she's in some way neutral.

John Stewart did a pretty good show about this sort of thing about a decade ago about Glenn Beck. "She's only asking questions! How do we know these protestors aren't all Russian agents, after all?"

  • She's directly linking any protestation of the war with Putin. She's essentially saying if you protest for cessation of hostility in Gaza you're a tool of Putin.

It's incredibly disingenuous and will definitely hurt their numbers. And in a race that's going to be as close as this is, it could easily lead to a red Presidency.

  • It's an easy way to silence people you don't want to hear. Someone who believes there's sincerity in the sentiment doesn't start off with: "For them to call for a ceasefire is Mr Putin's message. Make no mistake. This is directly connected to what he would like to see."

It doesn't really matter what you justify it with afterward, you're still essentially saying opposing "war" in Gaza is supporting Putin.

  • "And now that they have scientific backing instead of gut instinct, maybe something can actually be done. Unless of course people decide "well duh" and completely ignore the findings as they've been doing for decades"
