Hexbear doesn't have downvotes either actually. That seems to be the main reason they brigade. Everyone has to comment to show their negative opinion on something.

Lemmy.world has like 80% of the lemmy fediverse or something like that, so this I'd a problem not thag many people are actually going to run into realistically.

Sites that have old forums. There aren't many anymore, but ones I've seen that have been very helpful of late include car sites, a timeshare forum, and the Fantasy Grounds forum (my virtual tabletop of choice).

I'm sure there are others out there, but it's definitely more rare than it used to be. Is Something Awful still around?

Nope. I participate everywhere in the lemmy fediverse I can and never really had any issues with mods yet, which is surprising as I don't hesitate to get into political arguments generally. Ive blocked users, but never an instance. I take everything on a community by community and user by user basis.

Less here than any other instance I've noticed. It's why I like this instance. World, ml, beehaw, and hexbear all use defederation and banning at the drop of a hat. They're all trying to cultivate specific identities for their instances, so I don't begrudge them for it exactly, but it's not for me. I like the lack of censorship here and the openness. It makes the instance generic, but in a cool way. It's like the Union Station for the fediverse, or a skeleton key. If a user doesn't like a corner of the fediverse, they can block it themselves now, from individual users to whole instances. Sh.itjust.works might be like it, too, I haven't looked too much into their policies.

It's enough to make me realize I should donate to this place more lol.

I'm definitely holding off on passkeys until that project is finished. I also don't want vendor lock in and while that seems like the solution, it seems like they just started working on it.

Most of the enemies are there in the Middle East are because of Israel, or other things we've done, like invasions or funding terrorists to get oil.
