I go to Reddit for two niche subreddits and I look forward to the day I can abandon it for good for Lemmy. The front page doesn't even entertain me anymore, every discussion there is so boring.
I was kind of hoping I'm wrong because of Covid clearing out so many old people in that area lol, but it doesn't look like I am this election season at least. 😔
But, I'm also curious if the continuous climate disasters will ever make that place a less alluring location to move or retire to, which could also help the voting demographics 🤔 But like you said, that's kind of another "in time" thing.
I started Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth. I've been loving it, it's like they made the game for me. It's a perfect unwind game at the end of a day of work between the calming music, character conversations, and silly or cute mini games; but there's also enough strategy and action in battles to keep my mind stimulated when I want more than that.
They didn't exile people so much as people left because they got their slaves and businesses taken away. Then, the embargo made economic conditions terrible which encouraged more people to leave. The alternative is not letting people leave, which seems worse.
And I don't think Florida is a swing state anymore unfortunately =( I'll eat my words if it changes this election season, but I haven't seen it change in a long time. Democrats need to give up on it. The demographics have changed too much with all the old people moving there.

This is as big a problem as the Tik Tok thing. We have blatant evidence of a foreign country interfering with our biggest social media platform. It needs to be banned, too, or she needs to be fired.
It affected me a lot more in the beginning because I wanted the feel useful. It does feel good to see people use stuff you made, whether it's code or a physical object.
But it's happened to me enough times by now that I don't even care anymore lol. Like you said, as long as I get paid. I try to get my fulfillment from projects outside of work now.
But communities aren't really locked to a particular instance. Anyone can start a community that's a clone from another instance and nothing stops everyone from migrating to that new one. Blaze has already pulled it off multiple times. If everyone doesn't like the community on ml, then they can go to one made on another instance super easy. You can't do that on Reddit without adding a 2 on the end or something. That's the beauty of the fediverse.
Really? I find libs way more interested in rehashing old Cold War arguments. They still reference Stalin and Mao all the time, like you are now, even though they've been dead a long time. Communists do advance leftist thought based on the conditions of each country, and usually that requires resisting US imperialism and yes, they of often make a lot of mistakes, but these are criticized or debated in leftist circles, but not usually among the libs, who rehash old, debunked arguments usually.
From what I've seen, most MLS support individual liberty but understand it's curtailing in situations where countries are still the US. The US and the west are still the most powerful empires in the world and they're still trying to destroy communism and do imperialism. That's why they support Israel's genocide. That's why they keep trying to do coups in Venezuela every election year, why the US still embargos Cuba, why they still are trying to get countries to privatize their natural resources for foreign companies and they destroy the whole country if they don't (like I'm Iraq or Syria), why they constantly try to yellow scare with China but don't give a fuck about the wars Saudi Arabia starts with other countries, it's why we have military bases in almost every country in the world. These things are still happening today, the US didn't just start becoming good and non-imperialist or pro-communist and no one wants to be like the USSR when it turned into Russia, where everything was sold off to the highest bidder and quality of life fell off a cliff that's only now just starting to recover again.
Also, communist states are repressive to the bourgeoisie by definition, and this is usually pounced in by capitalist propaganda to demonize their projects as a whole.

Cowbee already provided proof for their claims. Basically the only response was that Marxists did believe what he thought they did, which is a baseless claim that needs proof.
