  • What I wanted was the social experience of chatting with people about games. I don't care about (as a random example) the latest Helldivers 2 patch notes.

Please yes this. It's good to see gaming related news but largely I just want to nerd out about the games themselves. Of course I should be told to just post my own damn content, but I have admittedly never been good about creating OC.

  • Yeah, it's contextually appropriate most of the time. I doubt there are many American users posting American politically specific ideas on posts about non-american politics.

The only real validity to this complaint would be an overabundance of posts regarding American politics; to which I would say, down vote those and post your own. I, for one, promise not to be upset.

  • Non-essential and predatory are not mutually exclusive, especially given Blizzard's history of player manipulation. They have perfected the science of making you want someone that you don't need.

  • This is patently untrue. I want Lemmy to be successful as much as any other user on here but reddit had 150-200 million MAU in 2016. Lemmy is being recorded as a generous 2 million.

  • I was having a conversation argument about this the other day. These morons actually still believe in trickle down economics.

  • Fucking hell I miss the 2000s/10s.

  • Oddly, not 10 mins before seeing this post I was having to convince someone that anyone espousing Jordan B Peterson probably isn't reading the political climate from a reasonable vantage point.

  • Also, comparing modern athletes to ancient Romans is about like comparing them to today's gifted teens in terms of pure physicality.

  • Yeah, I recognize they acknowledged it, but they didn't address it in the abstract. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just wondering what their qualifiers are and what their actual approach was. Powerlifters require large amounts of protein intake that can be difficult to obtain from a 100% plant based diet. That could be addressed with plant based supplements, but that feels a little disingenuous to me.

I suppose I could request the full study, but I can't be bothered lol.

  • I would love to know how they are defining "athletic performance" in this study and how they supplemented protein intake. The nutritional needs of an Olympic swimmer, American football player, cyclist, fencer, powerlifter, etc are nowhere near the same thing.

  • Perhaps you would like to share some of these goals?

  • Technically yes, but it's really just semantics and treason sounds sexier.

  • There wasn't anything particularly noteworthy in the article anyway. It's puff issues that anyone who has been halfway paying attention could accurately assume her position toward.

  • Thanks for that. It's difficult to concretely conclude he was being bullied from that clip but it certainly adds a small piece of insight.

  • There must be a mistake. That link is sending me directly to an ad for TikTok

  • To add to this, modern commercial buildings are built with specifically engineered "fire partitions" throughout the structure, such as stairwells and egress pathways. In the most critical areas these are usually 2 or 3 hour rated, meaning that they are designed to withstand a structural fire for 2 to 3 hours before becoming compromised.

In America at least, modern commercial construction is exceptionally fire-resistant.

  • Oh, weird. They don't require prints for a DL in TX, but we're already closing in on an authoritarian state anyways. I didn't know this was a thing.

  • That's the fun part about the war for privacy. We have already lost and if you make a big deal about it they're just going to make your life hell!
