  • Decisions decisions.

My boss just told me that the xmas do is this afternoon - but I also have a pre-existing dentist appointment for late this afternoon and there's no possibility of re-scheduling it to a pre-xmas slot. Will have to wait until the new year at least.

So, dentist or xmas party? - so far the dentist is winning.

  • Colesworth et al have been pushing this for a couple of years now. It's a way to stretch 2 steaks over 3 or 4 people without them noticing or feeling deprived, courtesy of catering magic. Check out any of the coles or woollies magazines over the last 2 years - all the steaks are pre-cut into strips. It's becoming normal to not serve any one person a whole steak all to themselves. And the supply of steak on the bone has dropped dramatically in the stupormarkets.

  • Salt. Specifically (in this context) the salt of sweat.

Seriously, if the cloud cover persists then the temp will probably stay low. As soon as the sun comes out the temp will soar. Looking at windy.com the cloud cover is pretty patchy so I don't hold out much hope for a reduced temperature.

  • Dance? Maybe a course of swing dance or classic rock & roll - excellent for balance, timing as well as aerobic/cardio. Quite a few short courses around - and most you don't need to bring a partner. Plus there's the music aspect. And its a whole lotta fun.

I've never done yoga, but there are a lot of different kinds - some are pretty extreme physically and some are more meditative. Pilates is popular and there's a lot of places around.

  • Look up the Backyard Chef on YT - he's a patronising bastard, but his recipes are legit and his rice pudding is sublime! An old fashioned plain cook and a very good one. What he can with 3 potatoes, half a cabbage and a rasher of bacon is little short of astounding.
I like a good rice pud - but a bad one is truly horrible and I can quite see why it might not have suited you back then. Let me know if you want the recipe that I use.

  • And if you like sweet - rice pudding is a classic. And can be fancied up almost infinitely.

  • Pasta ... special combination fried rice ... toast with the most ... pancakes ... croissants ... bbq shapes ... POTATO GEMS! They cast a spell on you.

  • Marginal. Boil it up real good as per Rusty Raven's advice and live dangerously.

  • Is that the sauce or the sauce+pasta? Was there a lid on it? What is approximate ambient temperature of kitchen overnight? Likelihood of feline (or other) bandits? 'On the bench' could cover a multitude of scenarios.
Basically, if there was a lid on it, and the kitchen got chilly overnight you might be OK. No lid and warm overnight temps then a hard no. If cats/ants/cockroaches have dipped their paws in it - hard no.
Spag Bol sauce is not as fragile as a cream sauce like alfredo, but still .... Rule of Thumb is to put such stuff in fridge as soon as steam stops rising from it.

  • Dammit - not your fault but I am disappointed in the current state of Life, The Universe and Everything. Thank you for the toast and the complimentary butter - it is much appreciated.

  • Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all Men - maybe an hour's worth just for practice. And a piece of toast.
