Same, and most of those things begin and end with copious amounts of drugs.

It's easier to do and say a bunch of bullshit than it is to counter it.

My family is like this. All we do is make fun of each other. It's kept mostly internal (including close family friends) but that's how we show love.

I still dress like a ranch hand about a quarter of the time even though I'm only out there to lend a hand once in a while. I showed up at my parent's place while my siblings were in town while I was wearing my boots and a pearl snap shirt. In our group chat my dad still asks "Hey Cowboy, did ya yee any haws today?" and that's been over a year.

There are both groups, and some in-betweeners. I have known several actual white supremacists. They are who they are. They hold "church" and talk about how all this is to keep the white man down.

I've known plenty who are casually racist but are more "I just don't like them" than anything organized. They believe some of it, but they expect things to work out because they're white so they don't organize.

I've known LOADS of people who are just ignorant. They live in a bubble where all they hear is about how the government is trying to give others a leg up and they're jealous. Where's their help? They grew up poor. If someone in their past benefited from slavery or oppression it was squandered. They have friends and family of color and genuinely love them. Some of them are white passing POC. They do tremendous harm out of ignorance and because they were lied to. That's not an absolution, because they could go find the information, but an indictment of the media bubble that they're in and some of the others they associate with.

That doesn't just go for racists. Sexists and LGBTQIA bigots are the same.

Back when I did stuff for the sake of doing it, I mapped DAW transport buttons to these. I never bothered replacing them when they broke because I moved to a jog wheel to scrub through much more efficiently.

I'm going to spend my money on more whiskey. I'm not sure if I'm too sober to understand or not nearly sober enough but we're about to find out together.

Yeah, when I first started growing peppers I did this and nearly killed a bunch of plants because I used too much.

It only takes a tiny bit and works wonders.

So they'll remain angry until they get half of a fucking clue about the issues.

I successfully used the Barenaked Ladies Snacktime! album to move one of my friend's kids from kids music to folk rock to hard rock. She now occasionally drags me to big concerts and we got tattoos (not matching) at the same time for her very first tattoo. I'm her favorite uncle, even though she has two that are actually related and pretty good guys.

I can remember going overseas and everyone was super friendly because I am a Texan. That changed gradually from 2003-2016 and now they have to figure out if I'm an insane Texan or if I'm a normal human from Texas.

I've got a friend that, when cornered by acronym soup, starts discussing very detailed analytics for whatever they're talking about. He says the acronyms don't matter as long as the audience is sufficiently bored by whatever your answer is.

That was my experience. If I did want to check an executable because I was getting a cracked copy of something I had a piece of shit computer that wasn't connected to anything where I could move the file and test it.

Most of the malware was hilariously unoptimized and would grind the piece of shit to a halt immediately. I had a stolen copy of Deep Freeze from work so a quick reboot put everything back.

Did the pest control person confirm it's a bedbug? I ask because I have a friend that was convinced he had them but he had carpet beetles. They were often misidentified on the old site with folks asking if they had bedbugs.

I'm not saying it's not a bedbug. Those things are horrendous and I'm no expert. I'm saying carpet beetle larvae can cause irritation and make you think you have bedbugs and their similar size gets them misidentified sometimes.

Whether they are or aren't, getting your landlord to get someone in to look is the right call.

I have a bunch of hobbies but the two that I'm currently concentrating on are building guitars and working on motorcycles.

There are plenty of people who build or customize guitars for a living. I have sold exactly one that I built from scratch and that was probably 15 years ago.

I'm resurrecting a barn find motorcycle that I'll sell (or I'll sell one of mine to keep this, I haven't decided), but I'm not going to make any money on it because it's not sought after. I'm doing it for love. I'll break even.
